The Lords Prayer
Kinkade Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Our Father, which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,

On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors; (As we forgive our debtors!)

And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,

And the power, and the glory, forever!
Amen

Overall Meaning

Kinkade’s song “The Lord’s Prayer” is a beautiful and sacred interpretation of one of the most famous prayers in Christianity. The lyrics of the song are a direct reference to the prayer taught to the disciples by Jesus Christ. The song begins with acknowledging God, our Father, who resides in heaven and his name is holy. This line emphasizes the holiness of God and the respect that should be given to him.

The next line, “Thy kingdom come,” is a reference to the establishment of God’s kingdom on earth. This is followed by “Thy will be done,” which refers to our submission to God’s will and how it should be followed on earth as it is done in heaven. The song then transitions to a request for daily sustenance, with the line “Give us this day our daily bread,” followed by a plea to forgive our debts as we forgive those who have debts against us.

The song highlights the importance of resisting temptation and the need for God’s deliverance from evil. The final line, “For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever! Amen,” is a declaration of God’s sovereignty and the eternal nature of his kingdom. Overall, Kinkade’s interpretation of the Lord’s Prayer is a beautiful and heartfelt rendition that encapsulates the essence of the prayer.

As close to being in heaven...
I had a private moment with my father when I visited him in the hospital, March of last year. The doctor had already made us aware of the process of making him comfortable due to the pain he is experiencing.
During this time, I told him that the first piano music piece I wanted to learn was The Lord's Prayer because I was always inspired and in awe whenever I hear him sing it with his commanding voice.
Through the years, he would be singing this hymn in family gatherings and it would be my pleasure to accompany him. As a baritone base of the St. James choir in Redbank NJ, the congregation would be hearing his beautiful voice and rendition of this hymn numerous times. He gave me and my wife the honor of singing it during our wedding in San Francisco with Maestro Raul Sunico at the helm.
We have, on many occasions, watched Andrea Bocelli's video concerts in the basement of our home which we converted into a make-shift theater. I wanted to recreate that experience with him as I sat beside his hospital bed and suggested we both listen to Bocelli's rendition of The Lord's Prayer. He opened his eyes, nodded his head and smiled.
I held his hand while we both listened to a rendition that, according to David Foster, is
"as close to being in heaven as possible." As we listened, I can see his lips move in unison with every word sang to perfection by Mr. Bocelli until seemingly, our spirits were lifted together in the soaring crescendo of "forever" and the haunting but peaceful
"Amen." He held my hand tightly as tears flowed down his cheeks. I kissed his forehead and whispered, "Mom is waiting for you Dad." His breathing became calm and for the first time in a very long time, he smiled serenely, perhaps letting the Lord know, he is ready.
It was the last time I would see my father alive but I am blessed to have had the opportunity to enjoy and experience The Lord's Prayer with him for the last time.
A tribute to his first death anniversary.

The only true name of the Savior of the world is YAHSHUA! “Therefore, since we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we do not lose heart. But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness nor handling the word of God deceitfully, but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them. For we do not preach ourselves, but the Christ YAHSHUA the Lord...” (2 Corinthians 4:1-5).
Halleluyah means, “Praise YAH!”
Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid;
‘For Yah, the Lord, is my strength and song;
He also has become my salvation’” (Isaiah 12:2 NKJV).
YAH, which means ‘I AM’, in Hebrew, and this is the name which is above every name revealed to Moses (Exodus 3:13-15).
Christ acknowledged that His name is YAH, as in “YAH Saves,” which is the revealed name YAHSHUA (see Matthew 1:21, for He will save His people), because He has the name which is above every name. For He said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM {YAH}” (John 8:58). Jesus, Iesus, Iesous, Yeshua, Isa, Hey-zeus, are counterfeit names for they lack “YAH.”
“Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). The Heavenly Father revealed the Savior’s name: “YAHSHUA.” [YAH = I AM, Shua = Salvation, thus YAHSHUA.]
The apostle Paul, on the road to Damascus, encountered the Savior, who introduced His name to him in Hebrew as “YAHSHUA” (Acts 26:12-16).
The apostle Paul heard in Hebrew Christ revealed His name as YAHSHUA, and Paul hearing YAH actually wrote the one name, “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of YAHSHUA every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that YAHSHUA the Christ is LORD, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:9-11).
Halleluyah, Praise YAH, Praise YAHSHUA! YAHSHUA is the only name of salvation, and the gospel warns us not to reject His name: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God” (John 3:16-18). The Savior’s name is YAHSHUA, and because there is no other name, any other names are counterfeits [not including titles, such as El Shaddai, or Emmanuel], and these counterfeit names are because: “Satan, deceives the whole world” (Rev. 12:9). “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it” (Matthew 7:13-14). “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name” (John 1:12). Believe in the revealed name YAHSHUA and forsake all other names.
