They were inspired by glam rock and released two albums on MCA, including their self-titled debut 'Kinky Machine' in 1993, and 'Bent' in 1995, which featured new bassist Nick Powell.
They split in 1995, and a new band Rialto formed in their ashes headed by Louis Elliott. John Bull has since written songs for Lily Allen's album 'Alright, Still'.

Last Song
Kinky Machine Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Only because she takes my loose change
And down the twisted course
I find myself tied to the reins
This is the last song
This is the last song
I ever wanna sing
This is the last song
It's underneath my skin
I used to be so young
Thinking I was only just begun
Now my mind's never clean
I don't know what I'm doing here
This is the last song
This is the last song
I ever wanna sing
This is the last song
This is the last song
It's underneath my skin
Down by the ??? canal
The water's dark and heavenly
This is the last song
This is the last song
I ever wanna sing
This is the last song
This is the last song
This is the last song
This is the last song
Throw your money in
Throw your money in
This is the last song
The last song
Throw your money in
The first verse of Kinky Machine's Last Song talks about the singer being tied to the reins after someone took his loose change "down the twisted course". The relationship between the singer and this person is unclear, but it seems that they have some kind of power over him. The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "this is the last song" multiple times, as if the singer is saying goodbye to something. He mentions that this last song is underneath his skin, which could suggest that this is a song that has been building up inside of him for a long time and he needs to get it out. The second verse talks about the singer being older and less sure of himself than he used to be. He feels like his mind is never clean and he doesn't know why he's still here. The third verse mentions a dark and heavenly canal, but it's unclear how this fits into the rest of the song. The song ends with the repeated phrase "throw your money in" as if the singer is urging the listener to invest something in this "last song".
