Ivory
Kio Amachree Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

If I call ya in the mornin'
Will you ask me why I'm callin'?
Will you be as cold as ice, babe?
Will I have to dry my eyes?

Ivory, I hope that you're good to me
Ivory, I hope that you're cool
Will you tell me that you're busy?
Will you leave me feelin' dizzy?
Will you treat me like a stranger?
Will I have to start all over?

Ivory, I hope that you're good to me
Ivory, I hope that you're cool
Ivory, I hope that you're good to me
Ivory, I hope that you're cooler than cool

Cooler than cool
Cooler than cool
Cooler than cool, yeah!

Ivory, I hope that you're good to me
Ivory, I hope that you're cool
Ivory, I hope that you're good to me
Ivory, I hope that you're cool
Ivory, I hope that you're good to me
Ivory, I hope that you're cool
Ivory, I hope that you're good to me

Ivory, I hope that you're cool
Ivory!

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Kio Amachree's "Ivory" depict the uncertainty and vulnerability that comes with reaching out to someone you're unsure of. The singer is hesitant to call the person in question, fearing a cold response or rejection. The repetition of the lines "Ivory, I hope that you're good to me / Ivory, I hope that you're cool" shows the singer's desperation for a positive outcome.

The use of the name "Ivory" is interesting in itself, as it can symbolize purity and smoothness, possibly representing the qualities that the singer hopes for in their relationship with this person. However, it can also refer to the ivory tusk of an elephant, which could suggest a fragile and easily breakable connection.

The contrasting emotions of hope and fear throughout the song create an emotional depth that is relatable to anyone who has experienced uncertainty in a new relationship. The repetition of the line "cooler than cool" in the chorus adds a catchy and confident element to the song, giving the listener a sense of empowerment and optimism.

I think this is so \weird listening to my songs on the Internet and reading all the comments . I never took my music seriously and lost a lot of money and happiness because it was frowned upon at the time . Thanks for posting this and to all of you that like what I did years ago . Kio Amachree Stockholm Sweden .

man! your music was amazing! The happy 'I dont care what happens of this' energy makes it so good! You should contact a modern label and see if they can re-issue your music, I suggest looking to Light In The Attic Records (LITA) or Sacred Bones Records. If all goes well, you could make your money back twicefold!

Kio!!! I found your music because Folamour sampled you (the song is Ivorie–Folamour feat. Kio Amachree). Honestly like your original version much more though. Now I’m listening through the rest of your songs and I couldn’t be more thrilled to have found a new favorite artist. Your music has brought me and many others so much joy, thank you :)
