This anime is special not for the fight scenes, but rather just for seeing how two worlds handle the power imbalance and their worlds being up-ended. Politics in the medieval world, politics in our world, and hell even the medieval soldiers who went insane after seeing their bretheren chopped down instantaneously. That's why I love it.

She's a priestess of death, someone who kills because her god calls for it. She almost exclusively kills other killers, and civilians are quite safe around her. personally, the drama and trauma of Re:Zero and the inhuman strategy of NGNL are much more appealing to me; and both hold a closer spot in my heart, within the isekai genre. but i can't deny that, GATE's illustration of a highly advanced society of our modern age interacting with an isolated and effectively medieval society in both battle and in politics, was fairly gripping when i first saw it. not to mention the implications of magic.
