Goin' Blind
Kiss Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

And I know how it should be
There is nothing more for you and I
Some are young and some are free
But I think I'm goin' blind

'Cause, I think I'm goin' blind
And I know how it's to be, yeah
Little lady, can't you see
You're so young and so much different than I
I'm 93, you're sixteen
Can't you see I'm goin' blind

'Cause, I think I'm goin' blind
And I know how it's to be, yeah

'Cause, I think I'm goin' blind
And I know how it's to be, yeah

You're much younger, can't you see
There is nothing more for you and I
I'm 93, you're sixteen
And I think I'm goin' blind

Yes, I think I'm goin' blind
And I know how it's to be, yeah

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Kiss's song Goin' Blind are a tale of an older man who is attracted to a much younger woman, but realizes the futility of the situation. He knows that there is nothing left for them to do together and that he is gradually losing his vision. The lyrics are a mix of resignation and wistfulness, with the man acknowledging the difference in age and the impossibility of a relationship between them. He repeatedly states that he thinks he's going blind, perhaps as a metaphor for his inability to see beyond the limitations of their age difference, or as a literal reference to his failing sight.

The song is notable for its exploration of the themes of aging, attraction, and mortality. It reflects on the inevitability of the aging process and its accompanying physical and emotional changes. The lyrics also touch on the societal taboos surrounding relationships with large age gaps and the need to come to terms with the transience of life.

Overall, the song is a poignant reflection on the passage of time and the limitations that come with it. It is a testament to the power of music to explore complex themes and provide a platform for introspection and reflection.

Wow, I never liked Kiss much but I have to admit this is a fantastic song.  Found about it through the Melvin's cover.

Before the hype and commercialism took over, they were a pretty good band. I still love them, but that is mostly due to misty childhood memories.

J. Mascis and Dinasaur Jr. also do a great cover of this song.

John Doe , I respect your opinion. The beauty of music is that it's subjective. I may like chocolate, and you may not like chocolate. You may like strawberry. Nevertheless, I love KISS with or without their warpaint. With or without make up, their music has stood the test of time and it will never die. Put it this way, when Metallica closed Cobalt Hall with the KISS classic Detroit Rock City, and considering the Detroit Lions blast that song during their football games, it shows the world that KISS did something with their music that went beyond the realms of music. God bless.

ok! :)
