1. Kiss Kiss was an indie rock band that emerged from Milton's SUNY Purchase. The group was formed by Joshua Benash (guitar, synth, and vocals) and Jared Karns (drums) after the members had participated in various college bands. The name Kiss Kiss is derived from a series of short stories by Roald Dahl. Although their music is primarily rock in style, it also includes an electric violin that adds an orchestral sound to many songs. The contrasts within Kiss Kiss' songwriting and vocals have also been described as extremely frantic at times, yet melodic and soothing at others. This unusual variety of styles has helped the band's music to appeal to a wide audience.
The band's first release was a self-titled EP--initially released independently in 2004, it would be re-released on Eyeball Records with new artwork on October 11th, 2005. Their debut album, Reality vs. the Optimist, was officially released on February 6, 2007.
The band's second album, The Meek Shall Inherit What's Left, was released on July 7th, 2009.
2. On March 25, 2023, at the conclusion of WACK Audition Camp 2023 the formation of Kiss Kiss was announced. The group consists of six members of Gang Parade. Their first digital single, "Kisses", was released on April 17. On June 21, they released their debut album, First Album.
Satellite
Kiss Kiss Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You shot your Pictures through the Air.
All the People on the Earth, They shot Through It,
In a Hope they'd Disappear.
Satellite Satellite we Weren't Ready
To Prove that Time was Never there
All the people on the Earth feel so Lonely
Please, Oh let me Grab Hold of my Mind
The images Prove Non Linear Time
One moment I'm Me
The Next I am Mrs. Audrey Wyde
Please Let Go
Please Let Me Deny
Oh Please let Me Go
Oh let me Grab Hold of my Mind
The images Prove Non Linear Time
One moment I'm Me
The Next I am Mrs. Audrey Wyde
Please Let Go
Please Let Me Deny
The Next I am Mrs. Audrey Wyde
Please let go!
Please let me Deny!
The song "Satellite" by Kiss Kiss contains a mix of electronic sound and rock instruments, which perfectly blend together to produce a powerful sound that captivates and mesmerizes listeners. The lyrics of the "Satellite" song tell a story of human curiosity, exploring the concept of non-linear time, and grappling with the idea of an advanced civilization watching and recording human life on Earth. The song is very metaphorical, weaving complex and thought-provoking themes together. The opening lines, "Satellite, satellite, are you stupid? You shot your pictures through the air. All the people on the earth, they shot through it, in a hope they'd disappear" imply that human beings were caught on the so-called "camera" of the satellite, as if their lives were on display.
The second and third verses of "Satellite" talk about the emotional impacts of the discovery of non-linear time, with a touch of metaphysical investigation. Kiss Kiss delves into the concept of loneliness, hinting that even with proof that there is someone out there, people still feel lonely. The chorus, "Please, oh let me grab hold of my mind, the images prove non-linear time. One moment I'm me, the next I am Mrs. Audrey Wyde. Please let go, please let me deny" is the climax of the lyrics. The singer starts to question his/her own sanity, struggling to accept the surreal experience of transitioning between different timelines.
