1. Kiss Kiss was an indie rock band that emerged from Milton's SUNY Purchase. The group was formed by Joshua Benash (guitar, synth, and vocals) and Jared Karns (drums) after the members had participated in various college bands. The name Kiss Kiss is derived from a series of short stories by Roald Dahl. Although their music is primarily rock in style, it also includes an electric violin that adds an orchestral sound to many songs. The contrasts within Kiss Kiss' songwriting and vocals have also been described as extremely frantic at times, yet melodic and soothing at others. This unusual variety of styles has helped the band's music to appeal to a wide audience.
The band's first release was a self-titled EP--initially released independently in 2004, it would be re-released on Eyeball Records with new artwork on October 11th, 2005. Their debut album, Reality vs. the Optimist, was officially released on February 6, 2007.
The band's second album, The Meek Shall Inherit What's Left, was released on July 7th, 2009.
2. On March 25, 2023, at the conclusion of WACK Audition Camp 2023 the formation of Kiss Kiss was announced. The group consists of six members of Gang Parade. Their first digital single, "Kisses", was released on April 17. On June 21, they released their debut album, First Album.
Stay The Day
Kiss Kiss Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Led to the fire
A beautiful place indeed
Cross in the wood that shed tears of liars
Magnificent time to lead
But stay the day
I want the sun
Draws two to none
But I feel it ending
In a bright starry gaze
It's all my fault
Gravity just stopped
And we all just floated away
It's all my fault
Gravity just stopped
In "Stay The Day," Kiss Kiss invites the listener to soak up the beautiful scene and bask in the warm sun. The opening lines, "Sweat on the angels/Led to the fire/A beautiful place indeed" paint a vivid picture of a serene location, possibly a paradise, that's full of divine imagery. The song continues to describe the environment, mentioning a cross in the wood that's shedding tears of liars, which could be interpreted as a sign of forgiveness or repentance.
But then comes the chorus, where the singer urges his companion to stay the day and embrace the moment while it lasts. They are both fully caught up in the moment, enjoying each other's company as if nothing else mattered. However, there's a sense of melancholy in his voice, hinting that this perfect moment won't last forever. He feels the end coming and ending with "It's all my fault/Gravity just stopped" creates a striking image of losing control, whether it's literal or metaphorical. Overall, the song expresses the bittersweet nature of enjoying a fleeting moment in time.
