1. Kiss Kiss was an indie rock band that emerged from Milton's SUNY Purchase. The group was formed by Joshua Benash (guitar, synth, and vocals) and Jared Karns (drums) after the members had participated in various college bands. The name Kiss Kiss is derived from a series of short stories by Roald Dahl. Although their music is primarily rock in style, it also includes an electric violin that adds an orchestral sound to many songs. The contrasts within Kiss Kiss' songwriting and vocals have also been described as extremely frantic at times, yet melodic and soothing at others. This unusual variety of styles has helped the band's music to appeal to a wide audience.
The band's first release was a self-titled EP--initially released independently in 2004, it would be re-released on Eyeball Records with new artwork on October 11th, 2005. Their debut album, Reality vs. the Optimist, was officially released on February 6, 2007.
The band's second album, The Meek Shall Inherit What's Left, was released on July 7th, 2009.
2. On March 25, 2023, at the conclusion of WACK Audition Camp 2023 the formation of Kiss Kiss was announced. The group consists of six members of Gang Parade. Their first digital single, "Kisses", was released on April 17. On June 21, they released their debut album, First Album.
The Cats In Your House
Kiss Kiss Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
To save the mouse
Satellites told you now
They care less about you now
Tear flesh from skin
Like a sick painting
Kill the cats in your house
They care less about you now
Tear flesh from skin
Like a sick painting
The lyrics of Kiss Kiss's song The Cats In Your House seems to be a metaphorical representation of the concept of power and control. The first line, "Kill the cats in your house to save the mouse," can be interpreted as an allegory for a person in a position of power eliminating any potential threats to maintain their dominant position. The idea of "Satellites told you now" could be a reference to mass surveillance and the monitoring of the population by those in power. The line "They care less about you now" may be a commentary on how those in power tend to become detached from the realities of the common people.
The imagery of "tear flesh from skin like a sick painting" creates a vivid image of violence and brutality, suggesting that those in power will resort to extreme measures to maintain their dominance. The repetition of the line "Kill the cats in your house to save the mouse" reinforces the notion of eliminating any potential threats to maintain power.
Overall, the song suggests a critical perspective on power dynamics and how those in power may abuse their positions to maintain control at any cost.
