Kithkin were born in the dark recesses of the Cascadian Empire. The children of woodland nobility, Kithkin were bred on a strict diet of percussion and rhythm, forced to eat nothing but spiders and leaves in between twice-daily 10 hour long drum circle sessions. On a caravan into the untraveled Swamps of Sadness, the quartet performed a drum circle so unholy, it ripped open a portal into our world, which they now inhabit. Their nobility now rendered meaningless in this new realm, Kithkin were forced to earn a living as entertainers. They are fond of primates, but dislike grapefruit.

I played a Kithkin Tribal deck a hot minute ago and it was so much fun. It obviously got monkey stomped (to be honest I didn't have the greatest build but slowly put some work into it as it became white splashed with green for Gaddock Teeg and Collected Company) and I am far from the best player but the fun came from people's reaction to it. So many people were surprised at the janky stuff I brought to those modern events. When Thoughtweft Trio gets dropped with no answer, people tend to approve too lol. There was a clash of the ages at one of those store events: my Hobbit Tribal vs. someone's Wall Tribal. He won but it was magnificent lol

I was expecting a mirrorweave or 2. The classic nut draw turn 4 kill with kithkin back in the day turn 1 1-drop, turn 2 wizen cenn, turn 3 precession and finish with mirrorweave targeting the lord

I wonder if splashing into boros colors for a spell that creates tokens, gives haste, and pumps is worth it (like heroic reinforcements, but I'm still too new to magic to know alot of older cards, maybe there is a more efficient card I'm unaware of.)

When you say "creature-reliant" do you mean a creature that makes you draw cards when you cast something, or another type of permanent that has you draw when you cast creatures?

they are an original magic species. They are just the denizens of Lorwyn, that are not human, but are also not elves

@goodguy shuckle, I know but there is still very little that clearly distinguishes them mechanically within the game, or visually within fantasy as a whole. I always like it when new tribes are introduced in mtg, like in Kamigawa, Ixalan, or Lorwyn. But these always felt kind of throwaway

No, a tribe that has not recieved support for over 10 years cannot suddenly become competitive. It's hard to want this for much abrew when you could just be playing white weenie or a more properly supported mono white tribal deck instead.

Also cards that have been bad can become good without new cards being printed. Look at lantern or death's shadow. 2 decks that were completely viable before they rose in popularity

Edit: I'm not saying that kithkin are that but it's a terrible mindset to have

@Ashra I get what you're saying, but the thing about Death Shadow and Lantern is that they got cards that supported a larger archetype or were just generally good but made better use of them than other decks could. Kithkin doesn't have that going for it. It's unique advantages are Knight of Meadowgrain, Burrenton Forge-Tender, and Figure of Destiny. I don't think there's been any new cards that benefit these three cards more than other similar decks.
