Since 1974, Hoffmann has starred in several renowned theatre and television productions. He became famous for his portrayal of Edgar Wibeau in the 1976 film adaptation of Ulrich Plenzdorfs 'Die neuen Leiden des jungen W.', for which performance he won several German film awards.
While working as an actor, Hoffmann continued to pursue a career as a singer-songwriter. He released his first album in 1974 and has since recorded more than 30 albums. He regularly performs live and has won several prestigious German music awards.
Together with his wife Malene Steger, Hoffmann lives in his hometown of Berlin.

The song Blinde Katharina by Klaus Hoffmann is about a blind woman named Katharina who wears clothes with phosphorescent colors for the night. She lives in silence, and her eyes are her hands, which she uses to sense the world around her. In Katharina's world, there are many walls, but she cannot see them. Despite her blindness, Klaus looks up to her for guidance, asking her to hold him so he can learn about her world. In her silence, she teaches Klaus how to wait and be patient, how to love and hate, experience joy and show anger. She teaches him to disregard all the rules and norms, showing him a world he has never seen before.

Ich frage mich immer wieso es im Text heisst "für sie ist immer Schweigen". Denn "sie erkennt Dich durchs Gehör", kann also hören und somit auch sprechen. Ich rätsel darüber nun schon Jahrzehnte.

:) Ich denke das -- fuer sie ist immer Schweigen -- meint das da nur ihr Liebster ist den sie hoert. Alles Andere hoert sie nicht. Das ist meine Interpretation :)
