With Every Heartbeat
Kleerup Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Maybe we could make it all right
We could make it better sometime

Maybe we could make it happen, baby
We could keep trying
But things will never change
So I don't look back
Still I'm dying with every step I take
But I don't look back

Just a little, little bit better
Good enough to waste some time
Tell me would it make you happy, baby

We could keep trying
But things will never change
So I don't look back
Still I'm dying with every step I take
But I don't look back

We could keep trying
But things will never change
So I don't look back
Still I'm dying with every step I take
But I don't look back

And it hurts with every heartbeat
And it hurts with every heartbeat
And it hurts with every heartbeat
And it hurts with every heartbeat
And it hurts with every heartbeat
And it hurts with every heartbeat

And it hurts with every heartbeat
And it hurts with every heartbeat

Overall Meaning

The song "With Every Heartbeat" by Kleerup featuring Robyn is a beautifully crafted ballad that talks about the pain and heartbreak that comes with a broken relationship. The song's opening lines suggest that the two protagonists could make things right and better if they tried. They could keep trying, but things would never change, and so the singer chooses not to look back.

The chorus of the song reveals the emotional turmoil that the singer is going through. She is dying with every step she takes, but she refuses to look back. The repetition of the line "And it hurts with every heartbeat" accentuates the pain that she feels as she attempts to move on from her past love. The bridge of the song seems to suggest that the singer is just looking for a little bit of happiness and that she is willing to waste some time to achieve it.

Kleerup's minimalist production allows Robyn's vocals to take centre stage. Robyn's voice is raw and vulnerable, and it perfectly captures the emotional weight of the lyrics. In conclusion, "With Every Heartbeat" is a poignant and introspective ballad that explores the agony of lost love.

When we wrote this Robyn asked if it was ok to write about my rocky relationship at the time. She witnessed the up’s and down’s since my girlfriend used to tag along sometimes on the Robyn tour in Sweden at that time, then it was released in 2006 in Sweden (as ”Kleerup with Robyn”) and then they wanted to include it on Robyns international release ( as ”Robyn with Kleerup) , and it went all the way to Number 1 in the U.K (and other countries as well) , It really touches me that so many people have so nice things to say , and also that it Still continues to do it’s job and Make people Feel ♥️♥️♥️
