Verhaeghen has been involved in several projects outside The Klinik / Klinik, including Noise Unit (with Bill Leeb and Rhys Fulber of Front Line Assembly), D.Sign / D-Sign (with Philippe and Eliane Fichot of Die Form), X10 (with Niki Mono, Marc Ickx of A Split-Second and Vidna Obmana), and Para (with his own wife Sabine Voss).
Original The Klinik were active between 1985-1990 (// 2003 // 2009-now). At first as quarter: Dirk Ivens (Absolute Body Control, Dive, Sonar, Blok 57), Marc Verhaeghen (X10, D-Sign, Noise Unit, Para), Eric van Wonterghem (Absolute Body Control, Insekt, Sonar, Monolith) and Sandy Nys (The Maniacs, Hybryds).
On first tour they called themself Absolute Controlled Clinical Maniacs, but this rather unwieldy name was soon dropped in favour of the shorter name The Klinik. Nys soon left the band to form Hybryds, followed in 1987 by van Wonterghem, leaving The Klinik as the "classic" duo of Dirk Ivens and Marc Verhaeghen... until 90~91...

Someone somewhere
Klinik Lyrics

I can't stand the light
Reflections of you
Black and white
Darkness
My only friend
Thinking of you
In this world
Were drifting away
There's no place
For you and me
Someone somewhere
Someone out there
In the heat of the night
Someone somewhere
Someone out there
Crawling in the dark
The song "Someone Somewhere" by Klinik talks about the pain of being separated from someone you love. The opening lines of "Turn my head, I can't stand the light, Reflections of you, Black and white" expresses the despair and pain of the singer in trying to erase the memory of the person from his mind. The next lines "Darkness, My only friend, Thinking of you, Again and again" reveals how the only solace the singer finds is in the darkness where he can let his thoughts wander and dwell on the memories of the person he has lost.
As the song progresses, the singer accepts the reality that they are drifting apart and there's no place for them in this world. But still, there's a tiny hint of hope that someone somewhere may be thinking of him too, and that is conveyed in the chorus with the lines "Someone somewhere, Someone out there, In the heat of the night, Someone somewhere, Someone out there, Crawling in the dark."
The song is a perfect example of a gothic ballad that explores the themes of love, loss, and loneliness. The lyrics paint a vivid picture of how it feels to love someone- the initial excitement, the devastating pain of losing them, and finally the acceptance that they are gone.
