existential crisis
Knapsack Lyrics

Looked like I left you behind, behind
Don't know what these blood stains on my hands are from
Oh, no no no
I had one I was faded
I crashed last night you get it
Crisis don't know why I'm livingToo deep to call lets pretend-en-en-en
She's coming to get me
From my, dreams, again
Falling into endless sleep
Time and time again
I'm faded and I'm fucked up
You're on me and I'm not enough, no
I just want to be able to
Idle for once
The lyrics to Knapsack's song "Existential Crisis" portray a sense of disorientation that comes with waking up from a dream and not being able to distinguish reality from what the subconscious has conjured. The lyricist confesses to feeling lost, as if he left something behind, though he is unsure of what that something is. The blood stains on his hands add to the confusion and could symbolize a sense of guilt or a feeling of being trapped. The chorus is indicative of a sense of trying to escape reality or feeling like he is living a meaningless life. He does not know why he is living, what he wants, or where he is going.
The second verse seems to suggest that the lyricist is using drugs as a way to escape reality. He is stuck in a cycle of self-destruction and possibly feels unworthy of love or a relationship. "She" could represent a salvation or a fleeting thought of hope, but it is not clear. The end of the verse communicates the message that the lyricist just wants to exist without expectation or purpose, without having to be or do something. Knapsack's "Existential Crisis" is a song that captures the angst that comes with the realization that life is meaningless or with the general sense of disillusionment, as well as the self-destructive tendencies that accompany these feelings.
