Knights Lyrics

Removes the colors from our sight
Red is gray and yellow white
But we decide which is right
And which is an illusion
Pinprick holes in a colorless sky
Let insipid figures of light pass by
Challenges infinity and is soon gone
Nighttime to some, a brief interlude
To others the fear of solitude
Brave Helios, wake up your steeds
Bring the warmth the countryside needs
The lyrics of the song "Begin" by The Moody Blues talks about the domination of the moon at night and its effect on the colors of our surroundings. The first two lines of the song describe the moon as a "cold hearted orb that rules the night" and also its ability to remove the colors from our sight. In addition, the next line suggests that the colors of red and yellow turn into gray and white, but ultimately it's us who decides which is right or illusion. The lines suggest a deeper meaning, that often what we perceive as truth might be nothing but illusions depending on our analysis and perception of them.
The next set of lines in the song "Begin" refer to the stars and their rays of lights. There are "Pinprick holes in a colorless sky" which allows us to see the "insipid figures of light" passing by. In addition, it speaks of the sun, describing the light that is so strong that it "challenges infinity and is soon gone." These lines bring forth the idea of the temporality of nature, where aspects such as light, stars, and the sun, are there just for a brief moment, which is both beautiful and melancholic.
The final section of the song "Begin" refers to the dawn after the night. It's the time when the countryside needs warmth and light, and thus the song demands the bravery of Helios, the god of the sun in Greek mythology, to awaken his steeds and bring warmth to the land. The lyrics of the song seem to suggest a cycle of life where every aspect of nature and time are intertwined and deeply influenced by one another.

These lectures are well researched and well presented. Shame the St Louis locals aren't turning out for them - they are still good viewing for the rest of us.
