Balance
Ko-c Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Yea
I just been trying to find the balance lately man
Bare with me as I, release a little bit you know
I just took my time with all this shit
Been on my grind just for a lil bit
Made up my mind its time to go get it
Made up my mind its time to go and get it
Before I go any further let's get one thing clear
Weather I pop off rap I'm still good over here
Got some people I ain't been speaking too
Been at least a week or two, my time is short so I'll speak my peace and just keep my cool
Class in session but ain't nobody attending school
Can't be around you niggas content with being fools
Flipped another calendar, Lord forgive me for my sins
While niggas was mourning Kobe, I mourned the loss of my twins
But I ain't looking for no sympathy cause I know when it's meant to be
I'll receive all that's meant for me hey!
Now a days I rather be by myself cause anything I've ever dreamed I provide myself
It's MG Ent yea I signed myself, It's just me, me, me I can't deny myself
Shit too real man
This life like a roller coaster
Be up and down with this shit
And time still tick weather this a rollie on my wrist
Learned to whip with arm & hammer and now I'm too legit to quit
Still dream about my father, still dream about my father
Got a sister Lord knows I miss her but I wont pick up the phone and call her
What if I ended up with Kara? or ended up with Karma
What if I'd fuck Teresa with no rubber would my life be filled with drama
Made peace with baby momma, all forgiving not forgetting
The lies you told that judge, but I won't hold that grudge
All this fucking Belaire, got me feeling like the fresh prince
All black behind that black, yea I'm talking glass tints
What I look like talking past tense, I'm the boss you niggas admin
You would understand if you had sense
And police is killing niggas like it's legal
I'll be damned if I turn my fucking back up on my people
I'll be damned if I turn my fucking back up on my city
Even if it is just my nigga Tone riding with me, Dig me
You know what I'm saying
2020 vision

Balance man, trying to find that balance

Overall Meaning

In Ko-c’s song Balancé, the rapper reflects on his life and seeks to find balance in it. He admits that he has been on his grind for a little while and has decided that it's time for him to go and get what he wants. He clears up a few things, stating that no matter what, he is still good where he comes from and that he has some people he hasn't talked to in a while, but his time is too short to worry about it. The rapper goes on to say that nobody is attending class, and he can't be around people who are content with leading foolish lives.

In the next verse, Ko-c talks about his reality, saying that his life is like a rollercoaster, with ups and downs. Time keeps ticking, and he has learned to be too legit to quit. He reminisces about his father and sister, whom he misses, but he can't bring himself to reach out to his sister. The rapper then ponders on what could have been if he had made different choices that would have led to a different life. He has made peace with his baby mama and forgiven her, although he won't forget the lies she told in court.

The final verse sees Ko-c reflecting on the state of things in his country, with police killing black people and no justice being served. He cannot and will not turn his back on his people and his city, even if he is alone in the fight. He reiterates that he is the boss and that people would understand if they had sense. The song ends on a note of finding balance and understanding.
