Talk
Kodaline Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I can remember the good old days
When you and me used to hide away
Where the stars were shining or the sun was blinding our eyes

Yeah you filled up my glass
With promises that could never last
But I still find pieces of you in the back of my mind
And all of the things that we once said
Are not in my heart, they're in my head
That was the time to say goodbye
Let's put it to rest yeah, let it die

'Cause we don't, we don't need to talk about this now
Yeah we've been down that road before
That was then and this is now

The crowds in my heart they've been calling out your name
Now it just don't feel the same
Guess it's over, yeah we're done

I heard you made your way downtown
To the place that I've been hanging around
I was looking for your face in the crowd
But trying to keep my head down

Over time our wires crossed
Well you changed and truth got lost
All the things I would change if we could only rewind

You were a moment in life that comes and goes
A riddle, a rhyme that no one knows
A change of a heart, a twist of fate
Couldn't fix it, it's too late

'Cause we don't, we don't need to talk about this now
Yeah we've been down that road before
That was then and this is now

The crowds in my heart they've been calling out your name
But it just don't feel the same
I guess it's over, yeah we're done

Whoa, oh oh oh

We don't, we don't need to talk about this now
We don't, we don't need to talk about this now

We don't, we don't need to talk about this now
We don't, we don't need to talk about this now

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Kodaline's song "Talk" are about a relationship that has come to an end. The singer reminisces about the good times that he had with his partner and how they used to spend time together in a peaceful and hidden place. However, he acknowledges that the relationship was built on empty promises that were never going to last. The singer reveals that he still retains some memories of his former partner, but he knows that it's time to let go and move on. The chorus of the song emphasizes the point that there's no need to discuss or relive the past as they're done.

The verses that follow are about how things have changed between the singer and his partner over time. They seem to have grown apart, and the truth about their differences has been lost. The singer wishes that he could fix things and go back in time, but he understands that it's too late as the change of heart and fate has already taken place, and there's no going back.

In a nutshell, "Talk" is about the realization that life doesn't always go as planned, and some relationships may not survive the test of time. The lyrics of the song express the pain and sorrow that come with a relationship that has ended and the need to let go of the past and move on.

You filled up my glass,
你填滿我的空虛
With promises that could never last
用誓言雖然這些誓言不會永久
And I still find pieces of you in the back of my mind
我依然可以在我心中找到這些你留下的點點滴滴

And all of the things that we once said,
而這些我們曾經說過的所有事情
They're not in my heart, they're in my head
它們已不在我的心中,在我的記憶裡
That was the time to say goodbye
這是該說再見的時候
Let's put it to rest yeah, let it die
讓這些事情安息,讓它去吧

This band is so underrated....they really deserve a hell lotta more recognition and popularity. One of my fav band. Kodaline....

@citroun

Yeah, I get what you mean, haha. It's like only everybody who knows them's little secret :3

@lipgloss123456

Jessica Snyder That's kinda stupid. Saying that you 'like unpopular bands' is saying that you like them because they make you feel like you're different and quirky. If Kodaline became popular it'd mean they'd be making more money, which would give them the opportunity to produce more music, merchandise, and do more touring, which means more people would get to discover them and see them live. I'd much rather have the bands I like get popular so that I have a better chance of seeing them live. Plus, I want them to have the ability to devote all of their time to creating new content. It's a lot nicer for the band if they can actually make money doing what they love rather than working a day job and doing music on the side.

@xsophie7238

same !! Kodaline is like theonlybandi like xD i don't like bands in general but this is so much different and their song have meaning and it's powerful and so beautiful

@lynsaydie6980

I prefer them to be underrated rather than bandwagoners invade my peace.

@sulistiyono2279

It just because the record label not doing promotion if they do like UMG did people around the world will recognize them
