Black and White
Koethe Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Everyone thinks they've got the answer
Everyone thinks they've found the cure
And everyone thinks they've found the reason
But they don't see there's no reason anymore

Everyone thinks they've found salvation
Everyone is, oh, so sure
And everyone thinks that they've found Jesus
But I don't think that he's listening anymore
No I don't think that he's listening anymore

So everyone hold tight, life is not so black and white
And I just hate that it feels like I've heard it all before
I'm wide awake and I'm screaming
'Cause everything that I fought for
Is slowly falling and I can't take it anymore

Everyone thinks that their so righteous
Got their answers all the time
But don't they see they're just pretending
'Cause there no one in the world who was right
Visionaries left without a sense of sight

So everyone hold tight, life is not so black and white
And I just hate that it feels like I've heard it all before
I'm wide awake and I'm screaming
'Cause everything that I fought for
Is slowly falling and I can't take it anymore

Hold tight, life is not so black and white
And I just hate that it feels like I've heard it all before
You're wide awake and you're screaming

'Cause everything that we fought for
Is slowly falling and I just can't take it any more

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Koethe's song 'Black and White' is a powerful message about the frustrations of people in a world where everyone thinks they have the answer to everything but are failing to make any real progress. The first verse sets the tone for the song, with the singer pointing out that people believe they have found the answers to everything, but these answers no longer matter. The second verse takes a more spiritual turn, pointing out that people believe in their own salvation or have found Jesus, but their beliefs are not enough to solve the problems of the world.

The chorus then repeats the message that life is not so black and white, reminding the listener that the world is a complicated place with no easy solutions. The singer then voices their frustration, saying that they have fought for everything they believe in but that it is slowly falling apart. The final verse points out that people who believe they are righteous are only pretending, and that even visionaries can lose their way without a sense of sight.

Overall, 'Black and White' is a song that challenges our perception of the world and reminds us that we need to keep fighting for what we believe in. It is a call to action for those who feel disheartened by the state of the world, urging them to keep going even when everything seems hopeless.

just noticed on this one when singing along the lyrics are a bit wrong in spelling and in content, they seem to be more like this:

Everyone thinks they’ve got the answer
Everyone thinks they’ve found the cure
And everyone thinks they’ve found the reason
But they don’t see there's no reason any more

Everyone thinks they’ve found salvation
Everyone is oh so sure
And everyone thinks that they’ve found Jesus
But I don’t think that he’s listening any more
No I don’t think that he’s listening any more

So everyone hold tight
Life is not so black and white
And I hate that it feels like
I’ve heard it all before
I’m wide awake and I’m screaming
Cause everything that I fought for
Is slowly falling and I cant take it any more

Everyone thinks that their so righteous
Got their answers all the time
But don’t they see they’re just pretending
Cause there no one in the world who was right
Visionaries left without a sense of sight

So everyone hold tight
Life is not so black and white
And I hate that it feels like

I’m wide awake and I’m screaming
Cause everything that I fought for

Hold tight
Life is not so black and white
And I just hate that it feels like
I’ve heard it all before, before
You’re wide awake and you’re screaming
Cause everything that we fought for
Is slowly falling and I just cant take it any more

Swear this is so great... I love the fact that this song can Change ma mood so easily... In just few seconds, a shitty Day becomes one of the ideal of supernatural fantasy... Such music man, congrates! To make it more clear, your the 8 miracol in this Mad world...

@derula

Koethe doing Screamo... never thought I'd see the day :>

Anyway, I really like the song. You releasing it on April 1st seems... interesting? Maybe you thought your audience wouldn't like this kind of music, so releasing it on April 1st you could say "it's just for fun, I'll go back to making music you actually like?"

Whatever the reason, it's a great song. I cried a little at "no one in the world is right." I hope you're not in a situation where you feel pressured to only make music that your subscribers will like. Art is about expressing yourself, not trying to please an audience. When it is reduced to that level, it quickly becomes stale and boring. I'm hoping we'll see more of the "B side" Koethe in the future :)
