Qualified
Koffee Brown Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Forget about your ex he wasn't good enough
Only when he called is when the spot got rough
Girl I need to know if I qualify
You can call my ex just to verify

Forget about your ex she wasn't down for you
You know I got your back 'cause I'm feelin' you
Tell you right now I qualify
Come at me for real, all games aside

Baby just relax, see you don't have to ask, I got niggas flippin' packs
I'll give you finer things, like carats in your ring
I'll take you to the lot, which one you want to cop, the seven or the drop
Just tell me what you need , it ain't about the G's

See money ain't the thing, it ain't about the rings
And those artificial things 'cause all it really brings, is a lot of pain.
What I need is trust, a little bit of lust, so that every time we touch
I feel it in your kiss nothing means more than this

Forget about your ex he wasn't good enough
Only when he called is when the spot got rough
Girl I need to know if I qualify
You can call my ex just to verify

Forget about your ex she wasn't down for you
You know I got your back 'cause I'm feelin' you
Tell you right now I qualify
Come at me for real, all games aside

Forget about your ex he wasn't good enough
Only when he called is when the spot got rough
Girl I need to know if I qualify
You can call my ex just to verify

Forget about your ex she wasn't down for you
You know I got your back 'cause I'm feelin' you
Tell you right now I qualify
Come at me for real, all games aside

I heard about your ex, and how she used to flex
With the platinum on her neck, how you put her in a Lex
Refusing her beggots, I know what she needs
How you couldn't believe she was with another kid
All up in the club, blowing up the spot, all up in the Marriott What?

Anyone could tell, she took me through some hell
Wouldn't even post bail, having you around, I think I finally found
A lover I can feel, someone to keep it real, so baby let's chill
Just let me know you care, we can take it there

Forget about your ex he wasn't good enough
Only when he called is when the spot got rough
Girl I need to know if I qualify
You can call my ex just to verify

Forget about your ex she wasn't down for you
You know I got your back 'cause I'm feelin' you
Tell you right now I qualify
Cause I got all the love you need

Forget about your ex he wasn't good enough
Only when he called is when the spot got rough
Girl I need to know if I qualify
You can call my ex just to verify

Forget about your ex she wasn't down for you
You know I got your back 'cause I'm feelin' you
Tell you right now I qualify
Come at me for real, all games aside

Can you qualify
Come and love me right
Stay with me tonight
Could you be the one for me?

Can you qualify
Come and love me right
Stay with me tonight
Could you be the one for me?

Can you qualify
Come and love me right
Stay with me tonight
Could you be the one for me?

Can you qualify
Come and love me right
Stay with me tonight
Could you be the one for me?

Can you qualify
Come and love me right

Stay with me tonight
Could you be the one for me?

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Koffee Brown’s song β€œQualified” tell the story of a man trying to convince a woman to forget about her ex and give him a chance to prove himself. He asserts that her previous relationship was not good enough and explains that he is different because he values trust and genuine connection over material possessions. He reassures her that she can verify his worth by checking with his ex and tells her that he is ready for a real, meaningful relationship.

The chorus repeats the phrase β€œforget about your ex” and emphasizes that the woman should give him a chance to prove himself. The verses illustrate his desire to provide for her and make her feel valued, both emotionally and materially, while also emphasizing that he is not like her past partner who only caused her difficulties.

Overall, the song presents the singer as a trustworthy and reliable partner, who is eager to offer love and support to the woman he is addressing. He is respectful of her past experiences and is patient with her hesitation, while also making it clear that he is committed to building a genuine, lasting relationship that is based on mutual respect and understanding.

One of my favorite albums!!! Β I played this album from start to finish and wouldn't skip one song. Β I can do without the interludes but this was some great music in 2001!!! Too bad the only song that took off from this album was "After Party", which is a classic! Β I wonder why they don't open a few shows these days at some of the throwback shows. Β Hmmm ... I'm giving someone an idea here.
