Lágrimas
Koko Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Koko's song "Lágrimas" tell the story of unrequited love and the pain that comes with it. The singer is deeply in love with someone who is already in a relationship with someone else, someone who the singer feels doesn't deserve their love. The singer wishes they had met the other person before they got together with their current partner, so that they could have had a chance. Despite this, the singer knows that their object of affection thinks of them when they are with their partner. The guilt of staying in a relationship that is wrong for them is likened to a sin or a madness. The singer acknowledges that their love is powerful and evident, but the fear of losing what they have with their partner is too strong for them to act on their feelings.

The chorus of the song sees the recipient of the singer's love crying tears that the singer feels are also theirs. The singer is saying that their love is so strong that it is difficult for them to leave, even though it is causing the other person pain. The singer is not willing to run away from the stormy love that they have, even though it is consuming them both. The song ends with the singer telling the other person to acknowledge that their tears are tears of love.
