Birds Do It
Kongos Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Birds do it, bees do it
Gotta a feeling even priests do it
I don't believe we've met before won't you please do it with me

Please do it, there's nothing to it
You don't even know my name, I knew it
No one's ever turned you down before, and it ain't gonna start with me
Could I buy you drink, could I sing you a song
I could start a war or we could both just get along
I could build a wall, or I could tear it down
And I could tell you why everything's that same old...

Lie, I say I love you
But you don't need me to
And I don't blame you
It's same, every time, just another lie

I say I love you
But you don't need me to
Cause I still want you
Just the same, every night
That we scream and we fight
Just another lie

Birds do it, bees do it
God, a feeling even he do it
I don't believe we've met before won't you please do it with me

Could I buy you drink, could I sing you a song
I could start a war or we could both just get along
I could build a wall, or I could tear it down
And I could tell you why everything's that same old...

Lie, I say I love you
But you don't need me to
And I don't blame you
It's same, every time, just another lie

I say I love you
But you don't need me to
'Cause I still want you
Just the same, every night
That we scream and we fight

We don't care, who is right
Just another lie

Overall Meaning

The song "Birds Do It" by Kongos is a playful and seductive tune about the universal experience of attraction and desire. The opening line, "Birds do it, bees do it, gotta feeling even priests do it," immediately sets the playful tone of the song. The singer of the song is asking an unknown person to engage in a sexual act with him or her. The lyrics are suggestive, but not crass, and the overall feeling of the song is one of lighthearted flirtation.

The bridge section of the song takes a different turn, with the singer admitting that he or she is not being entirely honest with the other person. The repeated line of "I say I love you, but you don't need me to" reveals the singer's vulnerability and uncertainty about the other person's true feelings. The chorus then repeats, emphasizing the idea that the repeated phrase, "I love you," is really "just another lie."

Overall, "Birds Do It" is a catchy and fun song that explores themes of attraction, desire, and honesty. The playful tone of the song contrasts with the more serious bridge, creating an interesting tension within the lyrics.

Brilliant. Love it, great album too. Kongos have to be one of the most underrated bands around right now.

@lisaleonard5575

I think they've been underrated far too long. Lunatic was an amazing album as well. Most bands can't put a solid CD together, but Kongos are totally solid on CD 2 & 3

@diobrando666

@alb314forever

Blows my mind away...imagery AND the accordion...Alternative sounds...for those of us that have ears and eyes to listen and see...

@z1n53r

Agreed. They are Beatles brilliant, most of the world just hasn't realized it yet.

@danieltaylor6029

This is a fantastic band. I don't understand how they don't have so many views

@kittyokat13

They dont have allot of views because the devil is in charge of the Earth. God Almighty IS trying to wake us humans up! Before we lose the game of Life, and our Bliss with Creator? forever the devil keeps the Light of God? turned down as Far to off and he possibly can.

@johncatson6658

@@kittyokat13 Kind of funny you think that, since they have quite a few songs anti-religion. One would think you'd be against them getting mroe views.

@1heckofanote

The flamingos with the accordion solo.....Brilliant !!
