Overall Meaning

In "Mungo Park," Korede Bello is admonishing a woman for dilly-dallying when it comes to choosing a man to marry. He mentions Oga Don Jazzy, who is a well-known and highly successful Nigerian music producer, and wonders when he will get married given his success and wealth. In the first verse, Korede uses physical descriptions such as "orobo" (fat) and "lepa" (thin) which can also refer to wealth or poverty, and "omo dudu" (dark-skinned) and "omo pupa" (fair-skinned) which could represent any preference that may make one person more desirable than another.

Korede advises the woman to stop waiting for the perfect man and settle for one that suits her. He mentions the famous explorer Mungo Park, who was known for his explorations in West Africa, as a metaphor for what the woman is looking for. He suggests that she stop trying to discover Mungo Park and just pick one of the men that are already attracted to her.

In the second verse, Korede brings up the topic of menopause, suggesting that the woman is running out of time to have children and start a family. He advises her to stop playing hard to get and choose one of the men she has been rejecting. He repeats the analogy of discovering Mungo Park to encourage her to make a choice instead of waiting for an unattainable ideal.
