I know what you're feeling,
I know everything in this world surrounds me,
I feel you're breathing,
I feel you're screaming,
I feel I can't go no where in this world without leaving.
My mind plays tricks on me,
I feel it beating down, the fake around me.
My mind plays tricks on me,
It's unbelievable you see,
I'm always testing the shit around me.
Let me tell you something.
This shit is beaming,
It won't leave me alone.
My disease, unseen,
You think ya feel me?
You think ya know me?
Cause I'm the hell in your head
My mind plays tricks on me,
I can't control it you see,
I feel it beating down, the fake around me.
My mind plays tricks on me,
It's unbelievable to see,
I'm always testing the shit around me.
Are you ready to live?
Are you ready to die?
All I do is give,
Am I wasting my time?
I am ready to live.
I am ready to die.
All I do is give,
Am I wasting my time? (Ah!)
Yes, I'm ready to live, (No!)
Yes, I'm ready to die, (No!)
All I do is give, (Ah!)
Am I wasting my time? (No, I'm not!)
Am I wasting my time? (No, I'm not!)
Am I wasting my time? (No, I'm not!)
Am I wasting my time? (No! I'm! Not!)
My mind plays tricks on me,
I can't keep control it you see,
I feel it beating down, the fake around me.
My mind plays tricks on me,
It's unbelievable you see,
I'm always testing the shit around me.
Are you ready to live?
Are you ready to die? (Yes!)
All I do is give,
Am I wasting my time?
Are you ready to live?
Are you ready to die?
All I do is give
Am I wasting my time?
All I do is give.
All I do is give.
All I do is give.
The song "Are You Ready to Live?" by Korn speaks about the duality of human existence- between feeling powerful, but also being vulnerable to one's own mind. The song opens with an eerie tone, with the lyrics illustrating the singer's ability to sense and understand the world around and within themselves. However, the lyrics also describe the singer's insecurities and the powerlessness felt when confronting the "fake around me" and the tricks one's own mind plays. The chorus poses the question of whether the listener is ready to live or die and the repeated phrase, "All I do is give", could mean that the singer feels like they give everything in their own life, but are not sure if they are wasting their time. The last verse emphasizes this struggle, but the final repetition of "No! I'm! Not!" may imply a newfound sense of self-assurance.
Overall, the song is about accepting the complexities of human existence- embracing the good, the bad, and the confusing. The chorus addresses whether the listener is prepared to face these complexities head-on, but the ultimate message seems to be one of self-validation.
