Kosheen achieved international success with their debut single Hide U, which reached #6 in UK official chart. Their debut album "Resist" (released in 2001), a powerful mixture of drum'n'bass, trip-hop, chillout, hip-hop-inspired beats and traditional singer-songwriter production, was warmly accepted by both critics and audience and later went "platinum" in the UK.
With their second LP "Kokopelli", Kosheen changed their music style and turned to more rock-oriented tunes mixed with electronica & trip-hop. The first single from the album, "All In My Head", became a huge hit, reached #7 in UK chart and the album went "gold".
Kosheen are also known for their classy gigs, gathering thousands of people from all over the world. The band's live sound is slighty different from their studio production. They have just finished a successful UK tour and are performing throughout Europe to December 07. Live they are augmented by Mitch Glover on live drums and Gary Eccles on keys (on session)
Sian was involved in some side projects, including collaborations with Bent (tracks "I Canβt Believe Itβs Over" and "Sunday Boy" on Bentβs cd "Ariels") and Cajun jazz band Root Doctors. Her vocals can also be heard on Decoderβs composition βDefenselessβ (off his βDissectionβ album), recorded before Kosheen was formed.
The band's third album "Damage" was released in the UK on Moksha on 10th September 2007. Damage is a mixture of inspirations from electronic influence from "Resist" and guitar tunes from "Kokopelli". The sound of "Damage" mixes elements of dark electro, synthpop, downtempo, vocal, electronica.
Kosheen has announced a new release for February 2012 called: Independence. Samples & full versions of tracks (Waste, Belladonna) appearing on this can be found @ Soundcloud.

Kosheen Lyrics

How could we resist it, a life like this?
Dramatized and twisted with every kiss
And in the far-off distance, our fading memory
The simple co-existence of you and me
Just looking at you
You're out of control
That look on your face
You're out of your mind
You're always talking (How can we?)
You lie through your teeth
You scratch underneath
You're all but empty (How can we?)
Just looking at you
You're out of control
You're always talking (How can we?)
Don't rely on his reflection, it'll come undone
The hurt of his rejection won't be the only one
Thank you for showing me who you are
When all that we have left now is wounds and scars
Just looking at you
You're out of control
You're always talking (How can we?)
That look on your face
You're out of your mind
You're always talking (How can we?)
You lie through your teeth
You scratch underneath
You're all but empty (How can we?)
Just looking at you
You're out of control
You're always talking (How can we?)
The lyrics of Kosheen's song Resist seem to be describing a relationship that has reached its breaking point. The singer is lamenting the state of their life together with their partner, wondering how they could have ended up in such a twisted and tumultuous situation. The memories they shared together are now fading, replaced with painful wounds and scars. The singer seems to be talking directly to their partner in the lyrics, highlighting how out of control they seem to be and the way they consistently talk without any sense of resolution. The partner is described as a liar who scratches underneath their surface, indicating some deep-seated issues that have not been dealt with.
The chorus of the song is repeated several times throughout, seemingly emphasizing how the situation has escalated to a point where it feels impossible to resist or turn back. The repeated use of "How can we?" seems to indicate some sense of hopelessness, as if the situation has spiraled out of control beyond the point of repair. The lyrics also seem to be suggesting that relying on the partner for validation or reassurance might not be helpful and may even be harmful, as the partner's own issues and insecurities have been projected onto the relationship.
Overall, the lyrics of Kosheen's song Resist seem to be a raw and honest portrayal of a relationship that has lost its way. The lyrics are reflective of how the relationship has become a source of pain and suffering for both partners and seem to encourage listeners to reflect on their own relationships and seek help or support if necessary.
