The title track «Pangea» - the first single from their upcoming album - shows a band who can still write anthems in Norwegian, and that easily can play at both big festival stages and at small village parties.
Kråkesølv’s music is still anchored in two guitars, bass, drums and lyrics written in their own dialect. But this time they have forced themselves to paint with a broader brush. «Pangea» shows a band challenging staid frameworks, and they are moving into landscapes that bands like Dungen and Radiohead have plowed before. But, as always, Kråkesølv land safely on their own Northern Norwegian feet.
The reason why Kråkesølv now are taking a different direction than before, is mainly due to their producer, Lars Horntveth (Jaga Jazzist, Susanne Sundfør). In addition to producing, he has contributed in many ways, with giving good advice, with being a motivator and with playing instruments like piano, mellotron and vibraphone. Throughout the entire recording process, Horntveth has also been offering them fresh coffee and fiery cheers.
Their lyrics have the same melancholy character that has coloured Kråkesølv’s universe since their debut album, and they continue to make connections between interpersonal and universal matters.

Men æ føl mæ alltid inkludert
At mitt liv e styrt av frykt
Men æ vet å hold rytmen
Men når du bynn å dra i spakan
End æ opp med vage tanka
Æ Vil at æ ska ha en klar tanke
Om at æ nu står på bar bakke
Kjenn at livet strømma
Og æ tar te takke med det æ har
Og lar alt kastes
Vi ska
Som du sa
Kastes
The lyrics of the song "Kastes" by Kråkesølv delve into the singer's perspective on loneliness, fear, and their ability to navigate through life's challenges. The opening lines express that people perceive the singer as someone who is lonely, but they always feel included. They acknowledge that fear often drives their life, yet they know how to maintain a rhythm and observe everything that happens. The singer understands that whatever happens is meant to happen, and nothing is more beautiful than what is about to come and what will soon be torn down.
The chorus emphasizes the idea of being thrown or discarded ("kastes" in Norwegian). They stand in front of the same old locked box, wanting to remove the frame but still finding themselves stagnant. The following verse has the singer asking someone to join in and lend a hand, but as soon as that person starts pulling the lever, the singer feels their thoughts becoming vague. They want to have a clear mind and continue standing on their own, even if they find themselves starting from scratch. The singer feels the flow of life and appreciates what they have, even if everything is thrown away.
