Overall Meaning

Kraftwerk's song Ohm Sweet Ohm seems to be a celebration of the electrical current ohm. By repeating the phrase "ohm, sweet ohm" throughout the song, Kraftwerk elevates the status of this electrical unit to that of a deity. As if it is something to be worshipped and revered.

The lyrics of the song also seem to be a nod to the way in which electricity shapes modern society. From powering our homes and offices to driving the machines that make our modern life possible, electricity and by extension ohm is, in many ways, the foundation of modern civilization.

what most people don't realise about Kraftwerk at this time is that there were no sequencers or computers involvved, just a bunch of classicly trained musicians playing electronic instruments live, which is why it has so much feel and life.

MIDI before MIDI was MIDI

@Mary-Beth Shine of of course they had Moogs. What made their sound so unique was the intense use of Vocoders and the space delay from BOSS.

Uhh...sequencers are used on this album. The Synthanorma sequencer, specifically, is essential for the album to sound the way we know and love it. Franz Schubert>>Endless, Endless, c'mon! That shit is achingly beautiful and quite human while being an obvious piece of sequencer-driven electronic music.

No disrespect intended whatsoever, but anytime someone makes a claim that some music is superior to some other music because the favored music is made without the use of specific technologies, I am extremely skeptical. So far, I've yet to hear such a claim hold true. In every instance I can recall, I eventually hear an artist or band come along and shatter such claims by making music that employs the technology in question while both game-changing and full of humanity.

I don't think Kraftwerk's music was cold. This track has a great warmth to it.
