CRIKEY! 😆 In 1975 when my parents sent my younger sister and I to visit our relatives and her pen-pal in Germany, Kraftwerk was already famous there. I was 18, she was 16. I purchased their LP vinyl Album there and brought it back to Canada on our return home.❣
We drove on the Autobahn to go shopping in Zurich and sang "Fahn Fahn Fahn on the Autobahn" nonstop LOL 😆
Seriously, my cousin stopped on the side of the Autobahn so I could get out of her green VW BEETLE (of course!) to cross the pavement to the median and take pics of the Swiss Alps mountains in the far distance.
Which is illegal unless we had an extreme emergency!
There literally IS NO SPEED LIMIT!!
Porches and super fast cars whizzed by us at well over 100 kph, it was nuts!
I had finally crossed the median to take pics when OF COURSE a German Police car showed up with 2 Officers who immediately jumped out of their cruiser and yelled at me to "COME HERE!" in German but I couldn't because cars kept whizzing by at supersonic speeds!
They kept yelling at me to "SCHNELL!!" (HURRY!!) even if I were to get killed!! 😆 The Police were naturally quite angry!
Once I was able to run across the double lane road, my cousin had already explained to them that I was her TOURIST cousin and that I didn't know any better, so then the Police didn't ticket us!!
The AUTOBAHN IS REAL, it's NOT to be trifled with!! 😆 🤣 😂😢

Very special to me. Back in 1974 I was age 12 and my cousin/ best friend Mike was 9 Mike had Leukemia and one day while watching him recieve a blood transfusion a nurse turned up the radio with Kraftwerk Autobahn playing as we both liked it. A few mins later I passed out for the 1st time in my life. Mike died soon after and this music and he has always stayed with me. To this day I can't get my blood drawn without hearing this in my mind BM. Hamden, Ct.

I liked this when I heard it on the radio in '74, and then my brother-in-law got the LP and it had the long version (about 23 minutes I think). He had quadraphonic stereo setup and it was amazing what they were doing with the synth. In the section where you hear cars passing and traffic, the cars actually sounded as if they were going past you. I loved it and have always been a fan.

Loved this song back when it first came out, and listening to it with headphones. The sound traveled through my head. I had to put my headphones on and listen to it that way. I had this album in '76. It got airplay in on the California radio stations (around Monterrey at least KLRB as I recall)... Great stoner rock! Big Sur Sinsemilla had just come out in Ca! I was in the Army stationed at Ft. Ord. Our generator mechanic harvested 7 or 8 plants and gave HUGE buds to everyone in my platoon! Epic weed!!!
After he gave out his haul to his friends, he still dad a full footlocker to take back to Mich.
He held his special bud in one of those tear-drop glass vases. He took it out and literally could touch it with a finger and pick it up on the finger just by being stuck from the goo!
This was weed that you couldn't roll but had to smoke in a bong for the best fun!
He was a great dude, and a lot of fun to go to the field with!!! I miss those days!

My older brother brought this album home when I was about 10 years old . I was fascinated that there was a highway in Germany that had no speed limits , since the Long Island expressway was 2 blocks from home and at that time the speed limit was only 55 mph .

Sorry, nothing against this song, really. But what dance would fit to it? And mind you, in former times I did a bit of choreography for some jazz dancers, so I am--or better was---involved in (pro) dancing. . . ;-)

A masterpiece of classic electro pop! KRAFTWERK are the pioneers for using synthezisers to creating a new kind of music. R.I.P. Florian!!!!
To creating music by a syntheziser in the 1970´s, it means you have to be a kind of computer nerd with great knowledge of technology and a passion for music.
Today, you need just a smartphone w/o any knowledge, that´s the difference.

As I have heard this song for the first time, I had the imagination of flying with a Boeing 747 and not driving on a so-called Autobahn and I never ever have an other imagination as to fly with a Boeing 747 when I listen to this song here, that's it and I love it so very much! For English speakers it sounds like "Fun Fun Fun" but it really means "Fahrn Fahrn Fahrn" (Drive Drive Drive)

Funny thing is that the German version of the Beach Boy's "Fun Fun Fun" which features a T-Bird car, actually read "Fahrn Fahrn Fahrn", taking advantage of the similar sounding words.

I bought this single in the spring of 1975.
My classmates in school thought it was "Fun Fun Fun Mr. Audobon"...like the bird watching group.
When I saw the back of the album jacket w/the lyrics it all made sense.

The first time I ever heard it or saw it was on the Friday Night Special....
I LOVED IT.
Eventually bought the album.
Got all their American releases.
