Fable
Kramus Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Remain here
As long as you would like
Forty-eight hours of nothing but madness
Lay waste to the mainland

And
Run
Out from the sunshine
Into the live wire we could contain
We fell
If only for moments
And no one could show us why we failed to learn

I've fought off
That which made me wrong
Hypocrite fable to feed my own ego
Watch the outcome rise

And
Run
Out from the sunshine
Into the live wire we could contain
We fell
If only for moments
And no one could show us why we failed to learn
Why we failed
Why we failed to learn

Run
Out from the sunshine
Into the live wire we could contain
We fell
If only for moments
And no one could show us why we failed to learn

Why we failed
Why we failed

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Kramus's song "Fable" speak to the idea of remaining in a state of chaos and madness for as long as one desires. The opening lines, "Remain here, as long as you would like, forty-eight hours of nothing but madness, lay waste to the mainland," set the tone for the rest of the song. The singer is suggesting that there is something alluring about embracing chaos and leaving behind the safety and predictability of everyday life. The following lines, "And run, out from the sunshine, into the live wire we could contain, we fell if only for moments, and no one could show us why we failed to learn," suggest that the singer has made a choice to leave behind the safety and predictability of everyday life and enter into a realm of risk and danger. They have not necessarily been successful in their endeavors, but they are still seeking to learn from their experience.

The later lyrics, "I've fought off that which made me wrong, hypocrite fable to feed my own ego, watch the outcome rise," speak to the singer's struggle to overcome their own demons and to become a better person. They recognize that they have made mistakes in the past, but they are actively working to change and to become a better version of themselves. In the final lines, "Run, out from the sunshine, into the live wire we could contain, we fell if only for moments, and no one could show us why we failed to learn, why we failed, why we failed to learn," the singer reflects on the fact that even though they have experienced failure, they are still willing to take risks and to continue to seek knowledge and growth.

I’m so glad this is on Youtube so I can still listen to Matt sing. It’s hard to believe he’s been gone so many years already. He was such an amazing, talented guy and I consider myself lucky that I knew him. He was one of those people that when you hung out with him, you felt like you were in the presence of greatness. You just knew he was special and that he was meant to do great things. I fully expected him to become a superstar one day. There was nothing better than sitting there and listening to him play acoustic guitar all by himself as he sang. Love you always Matt. Gone but never forgotten.

Still listening in 2022. It's a shame this song still isn't available anywhere else.

I got to perform beside these men at around the age of 17 and I am grateful for that moment. My friends and I did a rap song over this song as they performed live with us. It felt great and Matt was the best dude. Never met him before and he talked to me like a brother. Kramus gets all of my love forever. Just off the convo he was real with me about things I will never forget.

@PhilMcCool

Sorry to hear Matt Ledford is no longer with us. He seems like a super charismatic dude with so much potential. Hopefully the band can get this on Spotify so more people can appreciate their work.
