Kristene DiMarco Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Praise the Lord O my soul
And let all that's within me praise His name
I will not die I will live
And I will tell of the works of the Lord
And sing of His wonders
I will not die I will live
I will not die I will live
'Cause He's a great God
You are a great God

Praise the Lord O my soul
And let all that's within me praise His name
I will not die I will live
And I will tell of the works of the Lord
And sing of His wonders
I will not die I will live
I will not die I will live

'Cause he's a great God
You are a great God

Nothing's going to take your praise out of my mouth

As long as I shall live
As long as I shall live

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Kristene DiMarco's "Lily's Song" are a beautiful testimonial of faith that is bound to fill you with hope and the assurance that God is indeed a great God. The song begins with a call to praise the Lord with all that we have and all that we are, and there is a beautiful repetition of the phrase "I will not die, I will live" throughout the song. This phrase affirms the belief that despite life's challenges and hardships, the singer will rise above them and continue to testify of God's works and wonders.

The chorus reminds listeners that the God we serve is a great God, and this reinforces the theme of the song that no matter what we face, we can come out victorious because we have an all-powerful God on our side. The final verse seals the message of the song as the singer declares that nothing can take the praise of God from their mouth as long as they shall live.

Overall, "Lily's Song" is a powerful expression of faith and hope that encourages believers to keep their eyes fixed on God no matter what they are going through. It is a reminder that we are more than conquerors through Christ who loves us.

Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.

I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD.

Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works.

For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods.

I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.

Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.

My granddaughter, Lily age 5, was run over by a Doublewide truck right before Thanksgiving of 2019. No one at the hospital could believe that our little granddaughter only suffered a broken pelvic bone! She is a living miracle! My daughter watched the accident, and saw the truck run over Lily’s head as well. (We have the clothes with the tire marks on them). Later, Lily would tell us she felt the presence of God holding her head up and it felt like soft angels wings. It took several weeks for her to be able to walk normal and without pain, as she refused to use her walker or wheelchair, but today she runs again like a deer!! A week after the accident, she suddenly remembered the song that we used to sing to her, ’Mighty’; and of course, we always just called it ’Lily’s song’! She said, ‘mama can we sing Lily‘s song? You better believe we shouted that song out! ’Lily will not die, but will live to declare the works of the Lord. God is a God of miracles!!

He shared the story of your granddaughter and this song. What are the odds that boths girls are name Lily. The words of this song is just what my soul needed. A reminder that God is in the mist and still in control of every difficult and scary time in our lives. Chris thank you so much for sharing this song with us. The words are so edifying to my soul and a reminder that Lily is in God hands. If he did it for you, I know he can do it for me.
Blessings,

@Rebecca Bornman She absolutely is a miracle! Nothing feels the heart with more joy and gratitude than to be the recipient of such inmensurable love and mercy from God Himself! Imagine that, to feel the angels coming to see about you! Children are so clear when they have direct experiences with God. I now know why this beautiful song is called “Lily’s song”. May God bless you and give you a happy, long life with Lily and all your loved ones.

Listened to this song on the way to the hospital a month ago when I thought I was miscarrying. I'm almost through my first trimester now with our healthy baby, because He is a GREAT God. And even if I had lost the baby, nothing will take His praise out of my mouth. He is the GREATEST God and so worthy! Psalm 34. My soul will bless the Lord at all times. Praising Him every day for the life inside of me.

My lower discs have deteriorated to the point that the vertebrae are rubbing each other, with nerves to the legs caught in between ... I cannot take a step without pain that has been worsening over the last nine years. Some time it is very hard, but I still praise Jesus for going to the cross for me and buying my soul out of Hell ...

Amen sister. You know, I heard that this song was actually dedicated to someone like you who actually lost their child. God bless you and stay close to Him all the time
