Get It
Kristian Kostov Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I'm wasted but I'm fine
It's messing with my mind
I'm not thinking straight
It's getting too late
But I won't go home
The friends I don't make
'Cause all of 'em fake
Better be alone

Get it, get it, get it, get it right or wrong
Chronic out-of-stater 'cause I don't belong (here)
Get it, get it, get it, get it right or wrong
I don't wanna
Get it, get it, get it, get it right or wrong, yeah
Chronic out-of-stater 'cause I don't belong (here)
Get it, get it, get it, get it right or wrong
Right or wrong

Tried to be like them
To smile like I don't care
But what If I do?
I'm just looking for love and I know that I'll find it somewhere
Been spending my days in a way they keep calling unfair
I fell over and over again and again
And I know that I've made 'bout a thousand mistakes
And a million more, if it's all that it takes

Get it, get it, get it, get it right or wrong, yeah
Chronic out-of-stater 'cause I don't belong (here)
Get it, get it, get it, get it right or wrong
I don't wanna
Get it, get it, get it, get it right or wrong
Chronic out-of-stater 'cause I don't belong (here)

Get it, get it, get it, get it right or wrong
Right or wrong

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Kristian Kostov's song Get it are about feeling lost and out of place in a social setting. The singer of the song is drunk, reflecting on the fact that they are not thinking straight and acknowledging that they are wasting their time in the company of people they do not truly connect with. Despite this, they are hesitant to leave as they feel that being alone is better than continuing to pretend to be someone they are not, just to fit in.

The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "Get it, get it, get it, get it right or wrong," with the addition of the line "Chronic out-of-stater 'cause I don't belong (here)." This phrase speaks to the sense of disconnection the singer feels from the people around them, and the pressure to conform to society's expectations. The repetition of the phrase creates a sense of urgency and perseverance, encouraging the singer to keep pushing through the difficult experience.

The second verse of the song continues to explore the theme of feeling like an outsider, with the singer admitting that they have tried to conform in the past by pretending not to care, but ultimately they are just searching for love and acceptance. They acknowledge that they have made mistakes and fallen down many times, but are determined to keep trying until they find a place where they truly belong.

Overall, Kristian Kostov's Get it is a poignant reflection on the challenges of fitting in and finding one's place in society. The repetition of the chorus creates a sense of resilience, encouraging the listener to keep pushing through the difficult times and stay true to themselves.

Honestly coming back to kris after a while and hearing this is so refreshing oh my god. Kris, continue doing what you do and being awesome. There's so much for him to do and he's done so much at such a young age. #lookuptoKrisKostov

I'm seriously worried about Kris. I can feel it in the song. I can feel sorrow. When you think about his life and how much hate he was getting and that he puts his heart and soul to everything he's doing and still getting hate it makes me really sad. He's only 18 years old and he has accomplished so much but this comes with a price. The price is having to deal with fame and hate and hate can really affect your mental health excpecially as a teenager. Show him love. Spread the song, help him to popularize the song. He deserves only love and support.

@chickensandwich6400

Just kinda wondering what type of hate?

@yoana2767

@@chickensandwich6400 the most of his hate is coming from Bulgaria. and most bulgarians are not opened for changes for example most of them definetly DO NOT support LGBTQ and they are mostly calling him untalented gay (idk why those people think that being homosexual is something really unacceptible). so putting his heart and soul into everything he does and still not being valued by the society is really fucked up.

@chickensandwich6400

@@yoana2767 Ah I see yeah it's not right but Bulgarias views are just different so you cant really hate them for the views they believe in even if they don't seem right. But thank you for answering this question

After I listened to this song a second time, I was overwhelmed with a mass of emotions. Thank you Kris for reminding me with this release that there are quite a number of people in the world who feel low, depressed, lonely, left out... People who think of themselves as "out-of-staters". People who are starving for real love and friendship. And our job is to show them love, kindness and support. Even by just being there and holding their hand - if only for 5 minutes. We are all called to "carry each other's burdens", because no one can handle this life alone. So much is at stake, really.

I interpret the colour yellow in this picture as a symbol of depressing thoughts. Thoughts that won't quiet down.

I really like the musical layer in "Get it". Much more complex and multidimensional than an average pop song. And the rapping part is impressive (I almost got out of breath while listening to it).
