Light Years
Kristine Elezaj Lyrics

Me at the edge of my chair
So paralyzed my thoughts
Won't let me move from here
When you left you told me not to cry
Babe just trust in me
That it's only for a little while
Can't stop what's meant to be
Cause I believe in what you promised
Was it in your plan all along
To leave me stranded
Refrain:
Cause it like we're light years apart
Left me with no signal to trace
All of our connection is lost
You're 5 trillion miles away
You're floating away from my heart
Cause It's like we're light years apart
You're 5 trillion miles away
I sacrifice my sleep
Wishing that you were here
The lies I tell myself
Just to quite my fears
You come home and hold me close
But we can feel the space between
Terrified to say that things are not
The way they used to be
So do we carry on in denial
Hurting each other more each day
Thinking if we just stay awhile
We'll close the distance
Refrain:
Cause it like we're light years apart
Left me with no signal to trace
All of our connection is lost
You're 5 trillion miles away
You're floating away from my heart
Cause it's like we're light years apart
You're 5 trillion miles away
Bridge:
You left I stayed
Because of those promises we made
Abandon us when you went away
Love is out of reach
Your to far gone
Refrain:
Cause it like we're light years apart
Left me with no signal to trace
All of our connection is lost
You're 5 trillion miles away
You're floating away from my heart
Cause it's like we're light years apart
You're 5 trillion miles away
The lyrics of "Light Years" by Kristine Elezaj express the feelings of longing and distance between two people who are physically and emotionally apart. The absence of communication from the other person leaves the singer in a paralyzed state, unable to move or act. She remembers the promise of the other person that he'll be back soon, but as days pass by without any sign of him, she starts to feel trapped and abandoned. The singer is struggling with her own emotions, trying to convince herself that everything will be okay and that he'll come back soon, but deep down, she feels like they're drifting apart with each passing moment.
The refrain of the song emphasizes the distance between the two people, using the imagery of light years, a scientific term used to describe the astronomical distance between stars. The singer feels like there's no way to track the other person, and their connection is lost. The bridge highlights the pain and betrayal the singer feels, as she remembers the promises they made to each other, but he still left her alone. The song ends on a somber note, with a sense of uncertainty and hopelessness about the state of their relationship.

No word from you has got
Your silence has caused me great worry
Me at the edge of my chair
I am on the edge of my seat
So paralyzed my thoughts
I am so consumed with worry that I cannot think
Won't let me move from here
I feel stuck, unable to move on
When you left you told me not to cry
You reassured me with your words when you left
Babe just trust in me
You reminded me to trust you
That it's only for a little while
You promised that it's just temporary
Can't stop what's meant to be
We cannot fight destiny
So I decided that I'd hold on
I made the decision to wait for you
Cause I believe in what you promised
I trust your word
Was it in your plan all along
Did you plan to leave me hanging?
To leave me stranded
To abandon me
Refrain
Chorus of the song
I sacrifice my sleep
I lose sleep over this
Wishing that you were here
I long for your presence
The lies I tell myself
I deceive myself to ease my worries
Just to quiet my fears
In order to calm myself
You come home and hold me close
When you return, you comfort me
But we can feel the space between
Despite being physically close, we feel emotionally distant
Terrified to say that things are not
I am scared to admit that things are not the same as before
The way they used to be
Things have changed
So do we carry on in denial
Do we continue pretending that everything is fine?
Hurting each other more each day
We inadvertently hurt each other more with each passing day
Thinking if we just stay awhile
Hoping that staying together will bring us closer
We'll close the distance
We will become closer again
Bridge
Part of the song where things take a turn
You left I stayed
You walked away while I remained
Because of those promises we made
Justifying staying by the promises made
Abandon us when you went away
You left me behind without a second thought
Love is out of reach
Our love has become out of reach
Your to far gone
You are too distant
