She was the singer and a co-writer for the band Rose Chronicles, which was signed to Nettwerk in the ’90s. Rose Chronicles released two full length albums: Shiver (1994), which won a Juno Award for Best Alternative Album, and Happily Ever After (1996). The band split up in 1997.
Thirsk's first released solo track was "Bounds of Love," which was on the soundtrack of the movie Kissed in 1997. This song received a Genie Award nomination for Best Movie Theme.
In the years that followed, Thirsk was featured as a guest vocalist and co-writer on albums by Delerium and Balligomingo. She sang the vocals in Front Line Assembly's cover of Madonna's "Justify My Love" and Mystery Machine's cover of Blondie's "Heart of Glass."
She worked on her own material throughout this period and released her first full length solo album, Souvenir, in 2003. Souvenir was produced by Eric Rosse (Tori Amos, Lisa Marie Presley).
Thirsk and fellow Delerium singer Shelley Harland were the two lead vocalists for Delerium's first US tour in 2003.
The Sleepthief album The Dawnseeker, released June 2006, features Thirsk's vocals in the song "Sublunar (Sweet Angel)." Sleepthief's second album Labyrinthine Heart, released in 2009, also contains two tracks that feature Kirsty's vocals, "A Cut From the Fight" and "Reversals".
Hollywood
Kristy Thirsk Lyrics

Let's pretend that our love will last forever
Let's pretend there's no force in the world it can't break down
Let's pretend that that door slamming is not the sound
Let's move to Hollywood
Where we'll write the ending as we should
There are rules in Hollywood
It's where love prevails
Let's pretend that our children are perfect and happy
Let's pretend that our whole life is agape
And let's pretend that it doesn't hurt to move
And let's pretend that even pain won't mean you lose
Let's move to Hollywood
Where we'll write the ending as we should
There are rules in Hollywood
You must end up happy, it's understood
So let the truth be Hollywood
Where we'll end up happy
It's where love prevails
And nothing fails
And nothing fails
Let's pretend that we don't pay for happy endings
The song "Hollywood" by Kristy Thirsk is a poignant and thought-provoking piece that explores the concept of pretending and the allure of Hollywood. The lyrics express the desire to believe in a perfect love story, where there are no obstacles that cannot be overcome and where pain does not exist. The opening lines set the tone of the song, urging the listener to pretend that the love between two people will last forever, and that nothing is stronger than their bond. It speaks to the human desire to create a perfect world, a fairytale land where everything is beautiful and perfect.
As the song progresses, the singer suggests that Hollywood is the place where happy endings are made. There are rules in Hollywood where one must end up happy, and it is understood that love prevails. Hollywood is the place where dreams come true, where the most beautiful people are cast in the lead roles, and where the ending is always perfect. Even when there is pain and hurt, it is possible to overcome it and create a happy ending. With this, the singer urges the listener to let the truth be Hollywood, where everything is possible.
In conclusion, "Hollywood" is a beautiful song that explores the human need to believe in love, and the power of pretending to create a perfect world. The song speaks to the power of the imagination to create happy endings, where everything is possible if you just believe it.
