She was the singer and a co-writer for the band Rose Chronicles, which was signed to Nettwerk in the ’90s. Rose Chronicles released two full length albums: Shiver (1994), which won a Juno Award for Best Alternative Album, and Happily Ever After (1996). The band split up in 1997.
Thirsk's first released solo track was "Bounds of Love," which was on the soundtrack of the movie Kissed in 1997. This song received a Genie Award nomination for Best Movie Theme.
In the years that followed, Thirsk was featured as a guest vocalist and co-writer on albums by Delerium and Balligomingo. She sang the vocals in Front Line Assembly's cover of Madonna's "Justify My Love" and Mystery Machine's cover of Blondie's "Heart of Glass."
She worked on her own material throughout this period and released her first full length solo album, Souvenir, in 2003. Souvenir was produced by Eric Rosse (Tori Amos, Lisa Marie Presley).
Thirsk and fellow Delerium singer Shelley Harland were the two lead vocalists for Delerium's first US tour in 2003.
The Sleepthief album The Dawnseeker, released June 2006, features Thirsk's vocals in the song "Sublunar (Sweet Angel)." Sleepthief's second album Labyrinthine Heart, released in 2009, also contains two tracks that feature Kirsty's vocals, "A Cut From the Fight" and "Reversals".
Indifférence
Kristy Thirsk Lyrics

Before we fade to a pre-tensed goodbye
It fits inside your palm as if to say
A delicate hole could be made if you're still afraid
Indifference, hope you find me and then
Say you'll only, only always promise the same cold heart
I didn't make the journey to change your mind
If you thought I wanted a poem in blood and wine
Then why did you hold me with stares but not speak your mind?
Indifference, hope you find me and then
Say you'll only, only always promise the same cold heart
Indifference, hope you find me and then
Say you'll only, only always promise the same cold heart
Cold heart, cold
Should I imagine your efforts could be sincere
Should I imagine the distance could come from fear
Indifference, hope you find me and then
Say you'll only, only always promise the same cold heart
Indifference, hope you find me and then
Say you'll only, only always promise the same cold heart
Indifference, hope you find me and then
Say you'll only, only always promise to be there
Indifference, hope you find me and then
Say you'll only, only always promise to be there, there for me
The lyrics to Kristy Thirsk's song Indifference seem to be about a longing for connection and disappointment with the lack of emotional investment from another person. The first verse uses a rose as a metaphor for the fragility of a relationship that is about to end. The singer promises the rose won't die, just as they hope their relationship won't fade away completely, but they know the end is coming. The line "a delicate hole could be made if you're still afraid" could be interpreted as an invitation for the other person to open up and share their fears or feelings, but they remain indifferent.
The chorus repeats the word "indifference" and the hope that this person, who seems emotionally uninterested, will somehow be moved enough to offer a promise of commitment. The second verse describes a journey taken, possibly to see this person, but the singer didn't go to change their mind. In spite of this, the other person seems to be holding back or avoiding communication. The lines "Should I imagine your efforts could be sincere, should I imagine the distance could come from fear" reveal that the singer is uncertain about why this other person is acting indifferent.
Overall, the song seems to be about the frustration and sadness of feeling disconnected from someone you care about. The repeated references to a "cold heart" emphasize the lack of emotional warmth and responsiveness from the other person. It's a plea for them to open up and show that they care, but ultimately the singer seems resigned to the fact that they may never get what they want.
