Krizz Kaliko began his musical career in the late 1990s when he began working with a local producer by the name of IcyRoc Kraven. Another local rapper by the name of Tech N9ne was also collaborating with IcyRoc at the time, which led to the two rappers meeting. Tech N9ne was currently working on a song titled "Who You Came To See" and Krizz made a comment that the song could have a better hook. Tech offered up the opportunity to prove his case, and Tech was blown away when Kaliko proved just that. Tech would bring Kaliko into his "inner circle" which would eventually result in Kaliko signing to the label co-owned by his new found friend.
Since then, Kaliko has often contributed to albums put out by Tech N9ne, be it being featured as a rapper or simply providing background vocals for the tracks on the album. Although the largest portion of his work is that of his collaborations with Tech, he has also performed similar tasks for fellow labelmates Kutt Calhoun, Skatterman & Snug Brim, and Prozak. Other collaborations include tracks with the Kottonmouth Kings, Potluck, E-40, and Twiztid.
His debut album, Vitiligo released in May 6, 2008, charted on several Billboard charts including peaking at number 19 on the Top Independent Albums in the week of May 28, 2008. In the same week, he peaked at number 167 on the Billboard 200.
His second studio album, Genius, was released on July 14, 2009.
Krizz has chosen the title Shock Treatment for his third studio album. Other titles he considered were "Son of Sam" and "Walk on Water."
Krizz Kaliko is married and has a son, both are mentioned in his music.
He also suffers from the disease, Vitiligo, a skin disorder characterized by smooth, white patches on various parts of the body caused by the loss of natural pigment. Several of these patches are clearly visible on his face. He would later use the name of the disease he suffers from as the title for his debut album. Krizz has also been diagnosed with Bipolar disorder. On his second album, he titled one of the tracks after the disorder.

Yeah, you left me for
But I made it instead
You thought that I’d never make it
Treat it like it was tribe you makin’
Not who I used to be
Now they scream for me
And you created a monster
[Chorus]
Who am I to you? (nobody)
Who are you to me? (nobody)
Like things too long
Guess I made this song for you
You did it for you
You created a monster
Oh-oh, you created a monster
Oh-oh, you created a monster
Oh-oh, such a beautiful monster
Guess I get picked last in gym class again
Pick on the fat kid, we can kick ass on him
And he funny lookin’ and he can’t even afford lunch
So just give him a bunch of punches in his stomach maybe
Brother and mother, I’m makin’ them cry
Cause he got Vitiligo on his mounth and on his eyes
And he’ll never fight back, he ain’t built like that
He’s a scardy cat, afraid he might get killed like that
I’m a boy, turn them into ominesce
It’s probably just a matter of time before he come to [school](undefined) like he’s columbine
Minus the trench coats, slit throat dim full
Put ‘em in a choke hold, never let ‘em grow old
Mama told me make it into a gimmick
And my Aunt Fay told me it’s a reason God made you this way
What the world did to me is comin’ right back at ya
I’m glad that I had to be a monster
Monster
Oh-oh, oh-oh
Oh-oh, such a beautiful monster
[Chorus]
The song "Created A Monster" by Krizz Kaliko is a powerful and thought-provoking song with lyrics that tell a story of a person who was left behind by someone who didn't believe in them. The song begins with the singer asking if the listener is surprised to see them, stating that they have made it despite being left behind. The person who left the singer thought they would never make it, but now people scream for them, and the listener has created a monster. The chorus repeatedly questions the relationship between the singer and the listener, acknowledging that the relationship is not what it once was.
The second verse of the song tells a story about being picked last in gym class and getting bullied by classmates. The singer talks about being different, with Vitiligo on his mouth and eyes, and being afraid to fight back. He talks about how his mother and brother cry for him, and he is turned into a monster. The singer speaks about how his Aunt Fay tells him that there is a reason God made him this way, and that the world is now getting what it gave to him. The song ends with the singer repeating the phrase "oh-oh, such a beautiful monster."
The song is a commentary on the effects of societal rejection and bullying, and the way that people can use their experiences of pain and rejection to become powerful forces in the world. The lyrics suggest that the listener may have tried to break the singer, but instead, they created a monster that is now thriving. The song is a reminder to believe in oneself and to never give up.
