Midnite Maniac
Krokus Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Did you read it in the paper
'Bout the danger comin' your way
She'll tear you up at midnight
Killer on the loose get out of her way

Sex machine terrorizing' dream
Lock the door tonight
She's got it all she can walk through a wall
Better run for your life

And in the light of day
In hidin' she will stay
Watch out at midnight
Feel her shadow on your face

Midnight maniac she's a killer at large
Midnight maniac lock your door
A) Cause she can't be far
B) She knows where you are

Did you hear it on the radio
Crimes of passion makin' the news

It happened after midnight
In your neighborhood could've been you

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Krokus's song Midnite Maniac describe a dangerous woman who is on the loose and causing havoc in the night. The imagery painted by the lyrics gives a sense of fear and urgency to the listener, warning them to be cautious and avoid the dangerous woman, who is described as a sex machine terrorizing dreams. The lyrics suggest that the woman has supernatural powers, as she can walk through walls, adding to the fear factor of the song. The chorus repeatedly warns the listener to lock their doors and be wary of the midnight maniac, who is a killer at large. The song builds tension as it suggests that the woman could be anywhere, watching and waiting to strike.

The lyrics also touch on the media sensationalism surrounding crimes of passion, with the line "Did you hear it on the radio, Crimes of passion makin' the news." This highlights how the media often amplifies fear by reporting sensationalized stories of violence and crime, making people more afraid and paranoid about their safety. The song ends with a warning that the midnight maniac's next victim could have easily been anyone in the listener's own neighborhood.

Overall, the lyrics to Krokus's Midnite Maniac create a sense of fear and paranoia, warning the listener about the danger that could be lurking in the night.

It is a good point, though. Not much of a difference between this and AC/DC, as a matter of fact they often got confused for each other. But this is Heavy Metal as it was known back then by the people who created the genre and the term. You can call it Classic Metal or True Metal, but I disagree. METAL is the all-encompassing term. Heavy is a specific subset of Metal.

Paul Hornbogen

Totally agree. Timeless
