Russian Winter
Krokus Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Across the border and down the plains
The tiger meets the bear
No one is right, no one is wrong
Nobody seems to care

They fight for power, they fight for lust
Spilling their blood on the dust
A thousand miles without names
Fear remains the same

Russian winter, broken pass
Cold winds in the dark
The goose is loose and kills tonight
Full moon burning bright

Run for your life
Run for your life
Run for your life
Run for your life

So, the bear and the tiger lost in the snow
Tashkent's far away
To feel the fire, to save the bear
Nothing can stand in his way

Five fields of death, it's hard to predict
The battle the white emptiness
The king on his throne is all alone
Will this madness go on

Russian winter, broken pass
Cold winds in the dark
The goose is loose and kills tonight
Full moon burning bright

Run for your life
Run for your life
Run for your life
Run for your life

Run for your life
Run for your life
Run for your life
Run for your life

Run for your life

Run for your life
Run for your life

Overall Meaning

Krokus's song "Russian Winter" is a commentary on the political and social instability in Russia that is causing violence and bloodshed. The lyrics describe a conflict between two powerful entities, represented by the tiger and the bear, who are fighting for power and control at the expense of the innocent people caught in between. The lyrics suggest that no one is right or wrong in this situation, as everyone seems to be driven by their own self-interests, and nobody cares about the human cost of their actions.

The chorus of the song repeatedly implores the listener to "run for your life", emphasizing the danger and urgency of the situation. The lyrics also reference the harsh Russian winter, which adds to the bleak and dangerous atmosphere of the song. The imagery of the full moon and the broken pass only adds to the eeriness of the song; it's as if the world has been turned upside down, and anything can happen.

Overall, "Russian Winter" is a commentary on the destructive power of greed, ambition, and political corruption. The lyrics paint a picture of a world where violence and bloodshed are rampant, and nobody is safe. The song is a warning to listeners about the dangers of putting power and ambition above human life and well-being.

this is one of the first bands that got me on my drumming journey!!! 40 yrs ago!! this song brings me back wow!!! such an under rated band! its bringing back so many memories! i had all but forgotten all about them for some crazy reason...i got so caught up in Rush Floyd and Zeppelin adn they are still my biggest mentors as far as my drumming style goes....but Krokus and blue oyester cult got my attention first! This is so cool after soooo long!!! Kids today have no idea the musicianship those guys all have! The singer is the closest you can sound to Bon Scott!!!

My son downloaded this album for me on my phone. I was singing it as i did my Nepean River, Sydney, walk yesterday. This song came on whilst i was doing the last part, walking to my car. The council walkers were walking behind, following, i could sense someone there and turned around and said that i was fucked and nearly at my car. Funny as, They were loving it.

I have not heard this in way too long!!!
