Tokyo Nights
Krokus Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Last night when I was laying in my bed
Had a dream of a flag in white & red
Swiss cross turned into the japan dot
A yellow girl appeared and made me hot

She took me to her place - a Geisha house
There was tea rice-booze & ceremony
I got undressed she had me washed
I felt her body and I was lost

Tokyo nights hot burning lights
Tokyo nights you took my mind away
Made me obsessed by loving fights

Soon I remembered I stayed in a dream
And I could make a try to change the scene
The geisha girl was just too hot for me
I tried to wake up unsuccessfully

And even as the big alarm-clock rang
Outside my window the first blackbird sang
My yellow girlfriend didn't leave my head
Got to stay forever in her bed

Tokyo nights hot burning lights

Tokyo nights you took my mind away
I'm in the spell of your delights

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Krokus's "Tokyo Nights" tell the story of a dream the singer had, where he travels to Japan and is seduced by a beautiful Geisha girl. The dream begins with the singer laying in bed and dreaming of a white and red flag, in which the Swiss cross transforms into a Japanese dot. Suddenly, a yellow girl appears and arouses him, taking him to a Geisha house where they share tea, rice, alcohol, and participating in a ceremony.

The Geisha girl undresses the singer and washes him, and he feels her body and becomes lost in her touch. Although the singer knows he is dreaming, he cannot shake the seduction of the Geisha girl and her Tokyo nights. The dream continues, and the singer wakes up to his first blackbird's song, only to find the yellow girlfriend still in his head, wishing to stay forever in her bed. This song speaks to a common experience where one's dreams can be so captivating that they shape the reality even after waking up.

@nikitiki69

Yess you are sooo right! Tommy Kiefer, was a real genious - just listen to his solo in Fire - unfortunatley he left us too early - if he had longer time on our planet , he would have the status of one of the most brilliant guitar heros of mankind! May your soul rest in peace Tommy Kiefer (1952-1986) !

@katerinasarri

@@nikitiki69 many guitarists have gone too soon ( Randy Roads, Dimebag Darrell etc). Who knows what would happen if they still lived ! You are absolutely right about Kiefer too!
