My God! This piece represents, as the title suggests, what our Lord was experiencing. Whilst His Body was sent to the tomb, He descended into hell. We remember the Easter story as the crucifixion and resurrection- but the meat of the passion was his condemnation to hell to take the pains of our mortal sins. As a Christian, this piece is bonechilling.
