Remember Me
Kutless Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And saw it for a moment
The passion in Your cry
The chains of life are broken
Put to death by Your people
You came to bring us life
Only hope for the hopeless
I've been ashamed
I've been put down
Head in my hands
My life on the ground
Left heaven to save
Liars and thieves
Sinners like me
Your blood sets us free
Who am I
That You would remember me?
Spent all of my years
Stealing from the world
With everything i had
I was still so poor
You have everything to lose
But You're dying here with me
I believe
Will You remember me?
I've been ashamed
I've been put down
Head in my hands
My life on the ground
Left heaven to save
Liars and thieves
Sinners like me
Your blood sets us free
Who am I?
Take what I have left my Savior
Take me with You from this cross
When I leave this life completely
Remember me
I've been ashamed
I've been put down
Head in my hands
My life on the ground
Left heaven to save
Liars and thieves
Sinners like me
Your blood sets us free
I've been ashamed
I've been put down
Head in my hands
My life on the ground
Left heaven to save
Liars and thieves
Sinners like me
Your blood sets us free
Who am I
That You would remember me?
"Remember Me" by Kutless is a deeply emotional song about the redemption that comes from having faith in God despite our shortcomings. The song begins by describing a moment where the singer looked into God's eyes and saw the passion in His cry. The idea of chains being broken represents the freedom from sin that comes with belief in God. The next verse talks about Jesus coming to earth to bring life to humanity who were otherwise hopeless. The lyrics ask the question "Will you remember me?" as a reminder that despite our sins and failures, God has the power to forgive and redeem us.
The second half of the song talks about the singer's personal struggles with shame and feeling put down. They confess that they have spent their life stealing from the world despite having everything they needed, and acknowledges that Jesus came to save sinners like them. The line "You have everything to lose, but You're dying here with me" refers to Jesus' sacrifice on the cross to save humanity. The singer asks God to remember them when they leave this life completely, showing their desire for eternal life through faith.
Overall, the song encourages the listener to have faith in God's power to forgive and redeem, even in the face of personal struggle and shortcomings. It also serves as a reminder of the sacrifice and love of Jesus, who came to save sinners and offers the hope of eternal life.
