In St. Joseph, Missouri, in 1996 Kutt got a wake-up call. He was shot in the back. "This was my warning," he says. "I stopped selling dope altogether. I started chilling out, writing rhymes all the time and freestyling. Then I ran into some guys that noticed my talent and I’m thankful for that.”
While recording, Kutt started working with a producer who was also recording with Kansas City rhyme legend Tech N9ne. Impressed by Kutt’s work ethic, Tech N9ne signed Kutt to Strange Music/MSC Music Entertainment, setting the stage for Kutt's debut album, “B.L.E.V.E.,” which features several guest appearances from Tech.

In Kutt Calhoun's song Got Plans, the rapper talks about asking a woman if she has any plans, then offering her a way out of them. The first verse paints a picture of a woman waiting for a man who is known for his sexual prowess. Kutt offers to take her away from this and introduces himself as a streetwise man who wouldn't introduce her to his mother. He likes that she's "nasty and clashed with classy" but knows what would happen if he approached her. He offers to take her out and get her drunk, then asks her to show him a hot dance, promising that they'll head back to her mother's basement once she's shown him what she's got. Despite his appreciation of her, he reminds her that he has other plans and can't just lay up with her.
The chorus is sung by Krizz Kaliko and asks the question, "Do you got plans?" before proposing that they go to a movie and find a parking lot.
