Based in Camas, Washington, the atmospheric, female-fronted, indie quartet began at home where music was a part of everyday life growing up. "I don’t think I ever really saw myself doing anything else. Sitting in my bedroom tracking demos, experimenting for hours upon hours was never a chore. I lost myself in it; it was an outlet for everything from frustrations with relationships to a search for meaning and purpose," says Tim when describing the passion behind Kye Kye. “For all of us, this has been a labor of love."
Fronted by Olga's enchanting and wispy vocals, Kye Kye couples intricate lyrics with raw, electronic instrumentation. Kye Kye’s influences range from the organic likes of Sigur Ros, Deathcab for Cutie, and Coldplay, to the electric sounds of artists like M83. "Genre didn't really mean a whole lot for us growing up; we never had some kind of loyalty to a specific type of music. Be it folk, R&B, or anything classically 80s or 90s, it was always about the connection and about listening for honesty in the music, and I think that most people can somehow feel it without really being able to explain how." Olga explains, "When we write songs, that's what we strive to do: create music that we connect to and that makes us feel things and brings out those emotions within us. That’s what’s important to us in music: a connection."
Their 2011 debut album Young Love, produced by Eric Owyoung of Future of Forestry, was met with unforeseen and widespread acceptance, garnering an immediately devoted fan-base. Kye Kye's music is featured in the upcoming film Renee, starring Kat Dennings and Chad Michael Murray, and has also been heard in MTV's Awkward, as well as in commercials for both Samsung Galaxy SIII and Jawbone JAMBOX.
Amidst fans' growing anticipation , Kye Kye is excited to announce the arrival of their sophomore album. Having worked throughout January of 2013 in Nashville, TN with Producer Chad Howat (Paper Route, Brooke Waggoner), Kye Kye's second LP is set to be released in early Fall 2013.

Broke
Kye Kye Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
To repeat what I’ve done in the past won’t change me
I broke when you told me
I could try all the time
But my ways won’t change me
We tried this, but we failed
We know this but we’re too blind to see
Your life brought light for all to see
When I was lost so I, so I thought
That I was searching all alone
Like I was lost so I didn’t know
What I was keeping all along
I knew from the moment my mistakes all stood out
Your light’s my only safety
Oh all the times that I didn’t look your way
Look what I was missing lord you fill in every space
That I replaced instead of You
Revived us, we will sing
Restored us, you are the source to breath
Ignite us to a need to bury everything
I never want to be
Broke in 2 is a contemplative and introspective song by the indie-pop group Kye Kye. The lyrics reflect on the past mistakes of the singer and the realization of the need to turn towards a divine source of light and redemption. The first line, "I broke in the silence," could be interpreted as the breaking of internal turmoil and the admission of guilt. The repetition of past mistakes and the acknowledgment that they won't change suggests the inevitability of human nature's shortcomings.
The second verse begins with the admission of failure as a collective, "We tried this, but we failed." There is a realization of the need to look inward rather than outward for the source of light. The lyrics mention "freedom within me," which could refer to a sense of personal liberation once the source of growth and change is acknowledged. The line, "Your life brought light for all to see," could be interpreted as the idea of living a virtuous life and being a positive influence on others through personal growth.
The theme of ambiguity vs. clarity continues to arise in the last verse of the song. The lyrics mention being lost and searching alone but realizing that what was being sought was there all along. The singer's journey to seeking a higher power is something that is relatable to many people. Brokenness, failure, and redemption are all themes that reverberate through the song.

I remember listening to these guys ages ago and everyone hating on them for being religious. What changed? Honestly, I love their chilled feel and regardless of my religious beliefs, respect these guys.

Just saw you guys in Redding last night, and I want to say that your worship was so powerful...you could tell because everyone in the audience was grooving big time. God bless you, Chi Chi.

I love the biblical references that inspired the lyrics in the description. It only adds another layer of depth to these already powerful lyrics. Keep up the great work :)
