Happy Now
Kygo Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

We don't wanna believe it, that it's all gone
Just a matter of minutes before the sun goes down
We're afraid to admit it
But I know you know, know that
We should've known better, but kept on trying
It's time that we see it, the fire's dying out
Can't believe that I say this, we're out of chances now
And I just want you to know that

You and me, it was good, but it wasn't right
And it'll be hard, but I know I will make it out
Step by step, I'll move on and get on with life
So I let go, and I hope you'll be happy now
You and me, it was good, but it wasn't right
And it'll be hard, but I know I will make it out
Step by step, I'll move on and get on with life
So I let go, and I hope you'll be happy now

I hope you'll be happy now
Yeah, I hope you'll be happy now
I hope you'll be happy now
Yeah, I hope you'll be happy now

Yeah, I hope you'll be happy now
I hope you'll be happy now

Thought we could make it if I just held on
But it's really crazy how love could fade so fast
We said, "forever", but now we're in the past
And I just want you to know that

You and me, it was good, but it wasn't right
And it'll be hard, but I know I will make it out
Step by step, I'll move on and get on with life
So I let go, and I hope you'll be happy now
You and me, it was good, but it wasn't right
And it'll be hard, but I know I will make it out
Step by step, I'll move on and get on with life
So I let go, and I hope you'll be happy now

Yeah, I hope you'll be happy now
I hope you'll be happy now

I hope you'll be happy now
I hope you'll be happy now

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to "Happy Now" by Kygo are about the end of a relationship and the emotions that come with it. The opening lines describe a reluctance to accept that the relationship has come to an end. The singer acknowledges that they should have seen it coming, but still held on to hope. However, now they must confront the reality that the relationship is over, represented by the metaphor of the sun setting.

The chorus centers around the idea that the relationship was good, but not right. The singer accepts that they must move on and get on with their life, even though it will be difficult. They choose to let go of the past and hope that their former partner will also find happiness. The bridge reflects on the past, acknowledging the initial hope and commitment that the couple had, but recognizing that sometimes love fades quickly. The final repetition of the chorus shows an accepting and hopeful attitude towards the future.

Overall, the lyrics of "Happy Now" convey the bittersweet feelings that come with the end of a relationship, from the initial reluctance to let go to the ultimate hope for happiness.

This is a tribute to Avicii.

Kygo’s wearing his hat backwards like Tim did.

He’s in his hometown (Norway) visiting his family, like Avicii would be with his in Stockholm.

He’s driving his car like it showed Tim doing in the ‘Feeling Good’ music video by Avicii.

This song also sounds a lot like it could have been made by Avicii, and I think Kygo made it sound like that for a
reason.

He also picked Sandro Cavazza as the vocalist for the song. Sandro was a very close friend of Tim’s and sang in a lot of Avicii songs (some unreleased).

And the lyrics are about letting someone go, or in Kyrre’s case, saying goodbye to Tim, and hoping he’ll be happy now.

Avicii is Kygo’s biggest inspiration and the reason he started making dance music.

R.I.P. Tim Bergling/Avicii ❤️

@wellhelltherefellwhuman4637

I think these things represent Tim throughout the video:

It sounds very similar to 'Trouble'
0:09 he always wore a cap
0:13 his piano in his house
0:15 introduction to music
0:35 'Feeling Good' video
0:42 cap again
1:08 'Somewhere In Stockholm'
1:11 his family and friends
1:36 his car
1:41 "I hope I get the chance to travel the world"
1:51 his art developing
1:58 'Sky Full Of Stars'
2:10 'The Nights'
2:18 'Broken Arrows'
2:49 with his girlfriend
3:06 starting producing
3:35 Ibiza concerts etc.
3:38 "that's me right there on the corner"
3:42 with his girlfriend

Rest in peace Tim◢◤💔

This song is when you realise letting someone go is a sign of strength. To let someone leave for their betterment is the strongest form of love. It's both painful and joyous.
