Kyla La Grange Lyrics

Soon you'll stay
Oh, the end is coming
But I won't pride
Oh, the end is coming
Soon you'll stay
Oh, the end is coming
It's not for, it's not for
To tell me what I need
To explain my mind it's under
To tell me what are you
To tell me what I don't need
To tell me what I need
To explain my mind it's under
To tell me what are you
Oh, the end is coming
And I'm afraid
Oh, the end is coming
Soon you'll stay stay stay stay
Oh, my ears are burning
Why did you keep this from me?!
Oh, my ears are burning
It's not for, it's not for
You to tell me what I don't need
To tell me what I need
To explain my mind it's under
To tell me what are you
To tell me what I don't need,
To tell me what I need
To explain my mind it's under
To tell me what are you!
Hey hey hey he-hey
Hey hey hey he-hey
Hey hey hey he-hey
Hey hey hey he-hey
Hey hey hey he-hey
You to tell me what I don't need
To tell me what I need
To explain my mind it's under
To tell me what are you
To tell me what I don't need,
To tell me what I need
To explain my mind it's under
To tell me what are you!
(x2)
In Kyla La Grange's song "Maia," the lyrics appear to be exploring the idea of a looming end or change, and the fear and resistance that can come with it. The repetition of "Oh, the end is coming" creates a sense of foreboding, but there's also a feeling of defiance in lines like "it's not for you to tell me what I don't need / to tell me what I need." The second half of the song takes a more confrontational tone, with the repeated line "to tell me what are you" seeming to call out someone who has been trying to control or limit the singer.
As a whole, the lyrics convey a strong sense of someone standing up for themselves and their own perspective, even in the face of something potentially scary or unknown. There's a sense of empowerment in the refusal to be told what to think or feel, even as the world around them seems to be shifting.
