Kiper in Baton Rouge, LA) enjoyed a brief burst of popularity as a dance pop/rap artist in the early-90s. His 1990 album 'Tic Tac Toe' (alternatively known as 'Tic-Tac-Toe') hit a respectable #79 on Billboard's R&B chart and #82 on the top 200 albums chart. The infectious title track, which mixed together "Owner of a Lonely Heart" from Yes with "Looking for the Perfect Beat" from Afrika Bambaataa & the Soulsonic Force, was a club anthem.

Kyper's sophomore album, 1992's 'Countdown to the Year 2000', failed to meet expectations. With the hip-hop scene evolving, he soon became known as a one-hit-wonder, with just "Tic Tac Toe" getting any airplay. After being dropped from Atlantic, he independently released several singles and remixes through the 90s as well as the early 00s. Kyper continues to perform, and his more recent work takes in more electronic dance music influences.

I can remember knowing him as my go-to parts guy at Hi-Lo Auto Parts before I knew this was his side gig. He even had a special thanks to his coworkers there in the albums liner. They would be pulling 14 and 15 yr olds out left and right. I was 15 the first time I went in the Lighthouse, partied for 3 years, never got carded. Went on my 18th birthday got carded, drinking was 18 back then, Freddie who worked the door said " Wait a minute you turned 18 today??? You've been coming in here for years".........True story......

If he was in Alexandria he was at England Airforce Base. The Lighthouse and Late Nite were literally right outside the south gate of the AFB. Ft Polk was in Leesville about a hour away. It was a sad fact that before it was four-laned, old Hwy 28 was lined with crosses from Ft Polk soldiers coming to Alexandria to party and didn't make it home. Alexandria was a pretty happening town back then, you party every night except Sunday and Wednesday.

BayouScott gotta remember them chocolate chips!! I'm glad we got to experience that awesome feeling. I'm from Atlanta and we had 2 great all night clubs in 1989. You had to wait in line at 3:30 am.Awesome times!!
