progressive and alternative rock music such as Muse and Porcupine Tree.
KYROS (known as Synaesthesia 2012-2015) formed in 2012 in London, England and consists of Shelby Warne on lead vocals and keyboards, Joey Frevola and Sam Higgins on guitar, Peter Episcopo on bass guitar and Robin Johnson on drums. The five piece came together after Shelby was in need of completing the band line up to transition from a solo studio project to a fully fledged performing and writing group.
Although only having existed for a few years, the group has already released a critically acclaimed debut album and a successful limited edition EP. The debut album featured
artwork designed by Freyja Dean, the daughter of legendary album cover artist Roger Dean. Songs from these two releases have received airplay on various radio stations including Team Rock Radio. On top of this, KYROS has performed a number of impressive shows ranging from festival dates in UK, Germany and USA to supporting high profile bands such as Marillion and Anathema. In 2015, the band performed sixteen dates across Europe supporting Spock’s Beard, all with hugely receptive crowds and positive reactions.
KYROS has also gained positive reactions from within the press. They received top spot in the ‘Tip for 2014’ and runner up in the ‘Tip for 2016’ awards from Prog Magazine as well as a nomination for the ‘Limelight’ category within the Progressive Music Awards. Their debut album received critical acclaim from all over the spectrum. The band has attracted interviews and article write-ups from respected journalists such as Malcolm Dome and Rich Wilson. Both gave positive words regarding the debut album and their thoughts on the future and direction of the band. Wilson described the album as being “an exceptional debut from a band who will only improve”.
In Autumn 2016, KYROS will be independently releasing a maxi single entitled ‘Cloudburst’, which is to be shortly followed by a double-album called ‘Vox Humana’. This album will mark the band’s fourth overall release as well as being the band’s second official album release.

Monster
Kyros Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Assuring words to bide my time
Yeah - figures, you'd falsify your prose
My cognisance improves ten-fold
But still those simple feelings that
You cannot get out of your mind
Can't grasp the concept of this fuel
Now more than ever
These bitter words
This new found hate
Temptation all on your brain
Feels like I'm falling again
My mission's found another call
Can't feel the love for them and all
But you'll do it again
You'll mess up my brain
I'll figure the hate in myself
Come on I'll teach you the ways
and define these new-found wants and needs
For better choice of words, these "feelings"
Nothing more than passing phase
Why would you turn to poison
When you've done so well
to reached the top
Just fight the feelings one by one
Reject the thoughts, now come undone
Temptation now on your brain
Feels like I'm falling again
My mission's found another call
Can't feel the love for that and all
But you'll do it again
You'll mess up my brain
I feel the hate in myself
Fight the feelings, feel the pain
of your bitter name, it's all I have
No no! I made you, I can fix you!
Fight the feelings one by one
(I want them gone)
Human traits, come on deject
(disappear, I want them gone)
New found ideas, new ways to think
It never meant to be this way
You are a monster, now
A monster now
But, they'd do it again
They'd mess up my brain
When I had found hope in your voice
Just fight the temptation
Of carnal invasion
Your days are not numbered
Just hear me!
Oh, my friend
So fear them
Fear them
Fear them
The lyrics of Kyros's song "Monster" delve into the complexities of battling internal demons and grappling with conflicting emotions. The opening lines paint a picture of self-doubt and distrust towards someone who may have deceived the singer. Despite acknowledging an intellectual growth, the lingering emotions and internal struggles persist in the mind, causing a constant inner conflict. The reference to falsified words and an improved cognition sets the stage for a narrative of deception and self-discovery.
As the song progresses, themes of temptation, self-hate, and emotional turmoil come to the forefront. The singer grapples with feelings that they cannot shake off, feeling trapped in a cycle of self-destruction. The internal battle between love and hate, clarity and confusion, is vividly portrayed as the singer's mind is torn in different directions. The repeated mention of falling and a sense of lost control emphasizes the powerlessness and vulnerability felt in the face of these overwhelming emotions.
The lyrics also touch upon the idea of struggling to resist negative influences and self-destructive tendencies. The urge to break free from toxic patterns and harmful thoughts is evident, as the singer implores themselves to reject these impulses and confront their inner demons. The internal struggle is palpable as they fight against the darkness within, striving for clarity and redemption in the face of temptation and self-sabotage.
In the culmination of the song, there is a sense of realization and a plea for strength to overcome the monstrous aspects within. The recognition of one's own flaws and the acknowledgment of the destructive tendencies point towards a desire for self-improvement and transformation. The repeated urging to fight against negative forces and to embrace growth suggests a journey towards self-acceptance and self-renewal. The closing lines, urging courage and resilience in the face of fear and uncertainty, encapsulate a message of empowerment and a call to confront one's own inner monsters.

My awareness increases significantly
But still those simple feelings that
However, those basic emotions that
You cannot get out of your mind

When you've done so well
After you have succeeded
to reached the top
to reach the peak
Just fight the feelings one by one
Simply resist the emotions individually
Reject the thoughts, now come undone
Refuse the ideas, now unravel
Fight the feelings, feel the pain
Battle the emotions, experience the suffering
of your bitter name, it's all I have
of your harsh reputation, it's all I possess
No no! I made you, I can fix you!
No no! I created you, I can repair you!
Human traits, come on deject
Common characteristics, let them go
disappear, I want them gone
vanish, I desire them to depart
New found ideas, new ways to think
Fresh concepts, novel perspectives
It never meant to be this way
It was never intended to be like this
You are a monster, now
You are a monster, at present
A monster now
A monster currently
But, they'd do it again
Yet, they would repeat the behavior
They'd mess up my brain
They would confuse my mind
When I had found hope in your voice
When I had discovered hope in your words
Just fight the temptation
Simply resist the urge
Of carnal invasion
Of physical intrusion
Your days are not numbered
Your time is not limited
Just hear me!
Simply listen to me!
Oh, my friend
Oh, my companion
So fear them
Therefore, be afraid of them
Fear them
Be fearful of them
Fear them
Fear them
