Kyte comprise Nick Moon (vocals), Tom Lowe (guitars and keyboards), Scott Hislop (drums and percussion). Their earlier musical output was often labelled shoegazing (or neo-shoegazing) and post rock but they have since moved into a more electro and pop influenced sound.Their debut single, "Planet", was released in 2007 on Sonic Cathedral Recordings, the b-side of which, "Boundaries", was used in a trailer for the television series The Sopranos in the United States. Their debut album was released in 2008 on Kids Records (UK) / Erased Tapes Records (EU) to generally positive reviews.In April 2009 they released their second full length release Science For The Living in Japan. The two disc Japan release featured tracks taken from their 2008 Two Sparks, Two Stars EP, with the remaining tracks being new material. The bonus disc included a remix from The Joy Formidable of the opening track on Disc 1 "Eyes Lose Their Fire".
The band have toured extensively throughout Europe and Asia as well as appearing at many festivals including the 10th Anniversary Summer Sonic Festival in Japan.
During April 2012 the band travelled to Seattle to work with producer John Goodmanson (Nada Surf, Blonde Redhead, Los Campesinos) at the Robert Lang Studios. The new album titled Love to be Lost is expected in the autumn of 2012.

The lyrics of Kyte's song Fear From Death seem to be a reflection of a person's internal struggles and feelings of isolation. The first stanza seems to be describing the build-up of frustration, anger, and doubt inside a person. The use of "anger and shout" suggests that these emotions are becoming louder and more difficult to control. Today I just found out the fan page of Kyte on Facebook is gone, I donno it’s because they had given a notice of the shutdown and I missed it or they just closed down the page withought giving a notice to fans. I also had written to Nick regarding whether the band is going to make a comeback or not via IG a while ago, never got a response. I don’t want to disturb the band member if this is the life they want for the moment , but I really think it’s better to make an announcement to kyte’s fans if we will never get to see you again, if you guys chose to move on and don’t want to come back to what u did in the old days, that’s fine, I just want to remind you of how wonderful and inspiring your music has been and will always be, this is my first Kyte’s song and I have not found any band/singer better than this band so far, I wish I could have more of Kyte but if it’s not going to happen, hope everything goes well with all of the band members.
