Kyte comprise Nick Moon (vocals), Tom Lowe (guitars and keyboards), Scott Hislop (drums and percussion). Their earlier musical output was often labelled shoegazing (or neo-shoegazing) and post rock but they have since moved into a more electro and pop influenced sound.Their debut single, "Planet", was released in 2007 on Sonic Cathedral Recordings, the b-side of which, "Boundaries", was used in a trailer for the television series The Sopranos in the United States. Their debut album was released in 2008 on Kids Records (UK) / Erased Tapes Records (EU) to generally positive reviews. In April 2009 they released their second full length release Science For The Living in Japan. The two disc Japan release featured tracks taken from their 2008 Two Sparks, Two Stars EP, with the remaining tracks being new material. The bonus disc included a remix from The Joy Formidable of the opening track on Disc 1 "Eyes Lose Their Fire".

Kyte Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
With love, he tried, don't forget
He's watching over you.
Withdrawn from life, wait for days
Bring out the dead, wasted smiles
I'll never stop you fall
The smiles and sparks, all fall down.
Into the blue again.
Before they left, all was fine
They laughed and cried, never slept
Until the light began
"Secular Ventures" by Kyte is a song that uses metaphorical language to describe the emotional pain and confusion that comes with losing someone. The first lines, "Entrapped in ice, blind with rage / With love, he tried, don't forget / He's watching over you", suggest an intense emotional state that is both protective and aggressive. The singer seems to be talking about a person who is frustrated and angry but still cares about the people they have left behind. The line "He's watching over you" gives a sense of comfort to the listeners, implying that the person who has left is still present in some way.
The second verse, "Withdrawn from life, wait for days / Bring out the dead, wasted smiles / I'll never stop you fall", continues with the metaphor of emotional entrapment. The use of the phrase "withdrawn from life" suggests depression or isolation, and the line "I'll never stop you fall" implies a sense of helplessness or lack of control over the situation. The final lines of the song, "Before they left, all was fine / They laughed and cried, never slept / Until the light began", suggest that the person who has left was once happy and engaged with their life, but something changed and they were unable to continue. The repeated use of the phrase "all fall down" throughout the song emphasizes the feeling of loss and the finality of death.
Overall, "Secular Ventures" is a song that explores the complicated emotions that come with losing someone. The lyrics use metaphorical language to describe intense feelings of anger, sadness, and confusion, but also suggest that there is still some connection between the living and the dead.

I've just recently heard of Kyte, and every song I've heard makes me just close my eyes and sway. Everything is so fragile, but the lyrics are so intense. Gotta love Kyte.
