Into The Void
Kyuss Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Rocket engines burning fuel so fast
Up into the night sky they blast
Through the universe the engines whine
Could it be the end of man and time
Back on earth the flame of life burns low
Everywhere is misery and woe
Pollution kills the air, the land and sea
Man prepares to meet his destiny

Rocket engines burning fuel so fast
Up into the night sky so vast
Burning metal through the atmosphere
Earth remains in worry, hate and fear
With the hateful battles raging on
Rockets flying to the glowing sun
Through the empires of eternal void
Freedom from the final suicide

Freedom fighters sent out to the sun
Escape from brainwashed minds and pollution.
Leave the earth to all its sin and hate
Find another world where freedom waits.

Past the stars in fields of ancient void
Through the shields of darkness where they find
Love upon a land a world unknown
where the sons of freedom make their home

Leave the earth to Satan and his slaves
Leave them to their future in the grave

Make a home where love is there to stay
Peace and happiness in every day.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Kyuss's song "Into the Void" speak to the themes of space exploration, the potential for the end of humanity, and the desire to seek out a new world free from the pollution, misery and hate present on earth. The opening lines set the scene for the song's central premise, with rockets engines burning at a rapid pace to shoot up into the night sky and beyond. As the engines whine, there is a sense of foreboding, hinting at the possibility that humanity's fate may rest on the outcome of this journey. Back on earth, the perpetuation of pollution and misery continues, as man hurries to prepare for the end of times.

The second verse paints a similarly bleak picture, with the addition of "hateful battles" raging, and man's fate inexorably linked with "the final suicide". Yet, the song also speaks to the idea of hope and the possibility of a better future beyond the stars. The idea of "freedom fighters sent out to the sun" to escape from the pollution and brainwashing on earth evokes the sense of a group seeking a better existence free from the constraints that hold them down. As they journey past the stars, they find love and a place to call home, where peace and happiness reign supreme. The answer to the problems that the song outlines is clear: to leave earth behind, and find a new world where love and freedom can flourish.

People always say this about bands, but Kyuss is absolutely one of the most underrated bands in history.

Erbsen Zähler

You're right.
People always say this about bands...

@Erbsen Zähler You guys reminds me of a full circle spacetrip I did once. Thing is, if you still comment this after 15 years since this video war released, you rate it.... And I know for sure, you two rate it pretty fu¤(n accurate, not over, not under, but juuuust on the button, man. Cheers from the scandinavian woods.

Erbsen Zähler

@Ullr Thanks!

If you ever played this song, all parts are friggin easy - guitar, bass, drums, but the vocals is one hell of a job to pull.
And Kyuss deserves all the credits for that funny latino interpretation of the middle part, well done.

Eugenio Tuorto

Kyuss did a great job adding extra heavyness, lenght and groove to this song. Moreover, they showcased what their major influence is, which is essentially, IMO, drawn from the exceptional album Master of Reality. They somehow translated the Sabbathian' early doom and sludge into a sound that belongs to the desert! It's all so incredible, I can't accept that Kyuss is so unknown and not given enough credit to.

Could you imagine hearing the original in 1971? I mean, Jefferson Airplane to this in 4 years.

Rick Gallagher

Or how about this Shit. Cher' s Gypsies Tramps and Thieves was number one when Sab put this out.

Rebel Guy

Eugenio Moraes I agree......Kyuss is SO underrated!

Matt Backman

MOR's debut album is one of the greatest albums of all time. No shock that Chris Goss is both the heart and soul of Master and produced three of Kyuss' four albums.
