The "classic lineup" of the group would reunite in 1999 and began recording new material. However, the group continued to change lineups and Guns eventually left to form the hard rock supergroup Brides of Destruction with Nikki Sixx of Mötley Crüe in 2002. L.A. Guns continued without Guns, bringing in guitarist Stacey Blades, however, following his decision to put Brides of Destruction on hiatus in 2006, Guns formed The Tracii Guns Band. The group's lineup consisted of former L.A. Guns members Black, Alexander as well as Jeremy Guns (though the lineup would eventually change), with the group eventually changing their name to L.A. Guns. Both groups continued to record and tour under the L.A. Guns moniker until 2012, when the Tracii Guns-led version of the group disbanded. Riley died in 2023.
L.A. Guns (feat. Tracii Guns and Phil Lewis) released a new single "Let You Down" on May 6, 2020. It was released as the first single from their then-upcoming fourteenth studio album Checkered Past, which was released on November 12, 2021, and featured producer Adam Hamilton on drums.
In May 2022, it was announced that Shawn Duncan had replaced Shane Fitzgibbon as their drummer. In the following month, guitarist Ace Von Johnson revealed that L.A. Guns had been working on new material for their next studio album. The resulting album, Black Diamonds, was released on April 14, 2023.

Trust your heart I will make you cry
I only hope that it'll last forever
I know that it's now or never
Hey yeah, don't you know me
Hey yeah, why don't you show me
Hey yeah, where I'm going in
Spend a night by the candle fire
No word and I send relation
No word and I want to forget you
Hey yeah, don't you know me
Hey yeah, why don't you show me
Hey yeah, here I go again
I can't see buy I know that you are running
You were lost inside my dream
I can't touch you but I know that you believe
You were lost inside, lost inside my dream
Lost within my dream, yeah
Make a wish in a water fly
Trust your heart I will make you cry
I only hope that it'll last forever
I know that it's now or never
Hey yeah, don't you know me
Hey yeah, why don't you show me
Hey yeah, where I go again
I can't see but I know that you are running
You were lost inside my dream
I can't touch you but I know that you believe
You were lost inside, lost inside my
I can't feel ya but I know that you are running
You were lost inside my dream
I can't touch you but I know that you believe
You were lost inside, lost inside my dream
Lost inside my dream, lost inside my dream
Lost inside my dream
The lyrics of L.A. Guns's song Ritual seem to revolve around the theme of desire, passion, and the fear of losing a loved one. The opening lines "Make a wish in a water fly; Trust your heart I will make you cry" seems to imply a plea to a loved one to trust their heart and let go of their inhibitions. The lines, "Hey yeah, don't you know me; Hey yeah, why don't you show me; Hey yeah, where I'm going in" suggest a desire for deeper connection and understanding.
The lines, "I can't see buy I know that you are running, You were lost inside my dream, I can't touch you but I know that you believe, You were lost inside, lost inside my dream" seem to suggest a fear of losing someone who is caught up in their own dream, which leaves the singer feeling disconnected and unable to touch or feel their presence. The repetition of the phrase "hey yeah" throughout the song adds a sense of urgency and desperation to the lyrics, echoing the need for reassurance, understanding, and ultimately deep connection.
Overall, the song Ritual seems to showcase the vulnerability of human emotion, the fear of losing oneself and the need for a deeper, meaningful connection with the ones we love.
