L.C. Cooke, like older brother Sam Cooke, was born in Clarksdale, Mississippi. Soon after his birth the family moved to Chicago. L.C. was the fifth of ten children of Rev Charles and Annie May Cook (the “e” was added by both Sam and L.C. when they pursued their respective recording careers).
Following the family’s move to Chicago, L.C. was part of a gospel group, organized by Sam, called The Singing Children along with brother Charles Cooke and two of their sisters. By the 1940s, the Cooke brothers achieved some success as members of gospel’s Highway Q.C.’s. In 1956, L.C. joined a secular doo-wop vocal group called the Magnificents who recorded for Vee-Jay Records. Shortly thereafter, L.C. Cooke was signed to Chess where he cut I Need Your Love. In 1960 he signed with SAR Records, the label founded by his brother Sam. At SAR he recorded a string of single releases including The Wobble and Put Me Down Easy. Following the 1964 death of Sam Cooke and the concurrent sale of SAR, L.C. Cooke toured with the Upsetters, Little Richard’s legendary backing band. More recently, all of his SAR recordings, together with some of his efforts for Chess, were compiled by ABKCO Records and released as L.C. Cooke: The Complete SAR Recordings, his first legitimately released full-length album.
ABKCO CEO and President Jody Klein revealed Cooke’s passing to his staff, many of whom had grown close to L.C. over years of involvement with his brother’s and his own catalogs. He commented, “It’s with a sad heart that I inform you of the passing of our great friend L.C. Cooke whose talents, humanity and charm we shall all miss.”
Peter Guralnick, Sam Cooke’s biographer (Dream Boogie: The Triumph of Same Cooke, Little, Brown & Company, 2005) in his liner notes for The Complete SAR Recordings wrote, “L.C. is one of the warmest, most charming and gracious people you’d ever want to meet. Also, one of the most truth-telling.”

Real quick shawty
I was fuckin witha baddie
She was all up on my body
Yessah
Do you remember
When we were together
Yeah It was a pleasure to call you mine
I said do you remember
When it was all better
It was a pleasure to call you mine
But do you remember
Late night texting
Ain't no strings attached
I was for your love
All above
Gave me cause now we split
Yeah i hope that i fix
Fix this love
Split as is
Now im out here reminiscing
Thinkin bout the kisses
Aye bitch yeah i had u in the past
And i tried to make it last
Fuckin till the morning come
Never thought the day would come
Now im cold like December
Coldest nigga out
Turn the summer into winter
watch me n my brothers
We gon make it bigger
Im not a simper
I just wanna ask
Do you remember
When we were together
Yeah It was a pleasure to call you mine
But do you remember
I said do you remember
When it was all better
It was a pleasure to call you mine
But do you remember
Lately i been thinking bout the past
But my life been way to fast
It's hard to say but you better than the rest
I don't know why you so damn pressed
Thanks to you my life is a mess
This bitch got my life so full stress
She gon fuck witha nigga cause im balling
I don't know why she dont answer when im calling
I don't know why this bitch gotta act up
She gon come running back when the bags up
Girl i know you remember
When im wichu my life is just better
I don't know what to do
Maybe you should come thru
Girl the one i want is you
Yeah I know you feel it too
Do you remember
When we were together
Yeah It was a pleasure to call you mine
But do you remember
I said do you remember
When it was all better
It was a pleasure to call you mine
But do you remember
Quiero buenos vibras
Quemarme una libra
Una nena que me escriba
Dime los diamantes como brillan
Yo vivo chilling como se supone
Aveses hay arebatos cuando se ponen los fones
Mala fama y buena vida
Do you remember
When we were together
Yeah It was a pleasure to call you mine
But do you remember
I said do you remember
When it was all better
It was a pleasure to call you mine
But do you remember
In L.C. Cooke's song Do You Remember?, the lyrics make a powerful statement about the importance of devotion and showing love through small, meaningful actions. It suggests that love cannot be true without any devotion and requires constant assurance through little things done by the person in the relationship. The lyrics emphasize that words can be powerful but without actions and effort, they are meaningless.
The song brings out the significance of actions rather than just words in order to validate love's authenticity. Small gestures of love like sending a card, a letter or just a little smile can be empowering and help to reinforced emotional bonds between two people. Cooke stresses that even the small things that may seem insignificant can have an immense impact on a relationship and make all the difference.
In summary, this song reminds listeners that love must be shown rather than just spoken for it to be truly meaningful, and that even the smallest acts of affection can keep the spark alive in a relationship.

A fabulous soulful song, and very rare. Toi my knowledge it has not been released on a CD. I do have the original 45 rpm in my collection along with 2 other records released on Checker.

After "Do You Remember?" and from "Take Me for What I am", Put Me Down Easy (on Sam's SAR record label) to: L C sings the Great Years of Sam Cooke sessions, I was his personal guitarist; until the Lord called him home. I still miss them (Cook's) all, they were like family to me.
