Band formation
L.T.D. (which stood for Love, Togetherness and Devotion) was formed in Greensboro, North Carolina in 1968 by keyboardist Jimmie "J.D." Davis and saxophonist Abraham "Onion" Miller. Both were former backing musicians for soul duo Sam and Dave. The band was originally named Love Men, Ltd.
The other members of the band were recruited following the relocation of Jimmie and Abraham to New York City:
Henry Davis, bassist
Johnny McGhee, guitarist
Carle Vickers, trumpeter
Arthur "Lorenzo" Carnegie, saxophonist
Toby Wynn, saxophonist
Jake Riley, Jr., trombonist
Jeffrey Osborne, singer and drummer
The group then settled in Los Angeles, where Osborne's brother, Billy Osborne joined the lineup as the keyboardist.
Discography
L.T.D. signed with the A&M label to issue their 1974 debut Love, Togetherness and Devotion. On their third LP, 1976's Love to the World, the group scored their first Top 20 pop hit, Love Ballad. The follow-up, 1977's Something to Love, included the top five track (Every Time I Turn Around) Back in Love Again. Four years later L.T.D. returned to the Top 40 once again with Shine On.

I ain't no role model
Tell me what you need
Could get that sht wit no problem
Nigga you chasin' after bitches
Got a hoe problem
Real get money nigga
Tell me what you know bout it
Had to thug it out
Cold hearted
I can't tell you what no love about
My mother worried
She just wish I took another route
I pray to god
And asked
To never see another drought
Promise remain solid
What you know about it
The streets cold
Still managed to get some dough up out it
We keep poles
Only one way we could go about it
The street code
That nigga broke
The day he told about it
Police stroll
Through the hood
But we ain't worried 'bout it
We still spinnin'
All the sht that I been through
Praise the lord i'm still livin'
Had some minor setbacks
But overall we still winnin'
Niggas claim they gettin' money
They still bitchin' bout the ticket
I been caught up in my ways (Aye, Aye)
I been too caught in my plays
Ain't seen my mama in some days
I pray that drama don't come my way (Aye, Aye)
But if that drama come my way
Then that llama I'mma spray
I'm makin' plays off Exotics
I ain't no role model
Tell me what you need
Could get that shit with no problem
Nigga you chasin' after bitches
Got a hoe problem
Real get money nigga
Tell me what you know bout it
It was times it was ugly
Had to thug it out
Cold hearted
I can't tell you what no love about
My mother worried
She just wish I took another route
I pray to god
And asked
To never see another drought
Fuck a 9-5 I go and get it out the trap
In the jungle wit' the snakes
Had to learn to adapt
Got a monkey on my back
Ain't talking bape (Aye)
Gotta keep that Nina on you
It ain't safe (Aye, Aye)
Fuck 100 friends
I'm in the trap i need 100 racks
Fuck how they feel
I lost some niggas who ain't coming back
Built for this life
So I take whatever come with that
Any drug you name
Just hand it off
Bet I run it back
He used to have the sack
Then he blew it
Nigga fumbled that
I talk the streets up in these melodies
This ain't no mumble rap
Rip Jabree
I'll trade it all to get my cousin back
Was down to my last
I had to hustle just to double that
I'm makin' plays off Exotics
I ain't no role model
Tell me what you need
Could get that sht wit no problem
Nigga you chasin' after bitches
Got a hoe problem
Real get money nigga
Tell me what you know bout it
It was times it was ugly
Had to thug it out
Cold hearted
I can't tell you what no love about
My mother worried
She just wish I took another route
I pray to god
And asked
To never see another drought
In the song "It's You" by L.T.D., the lyrics explain the life of a street hustler who is making money through illegal means such as selling drugs. The lyrics describe how the hustler has had to struggle and thug it out to get where he is today, and he doesn't apologize for it. He is indifferent to morals and the law and has no intention of being a role model. He acknowledges that he has a hoe problem and chases after girls, but he can get whatever he wants with his money. The hustler's mother is worried about his well-being and wishes he took a different route, but he prays to never endure hard times again. The singer declares that he is a real "get money" person and has dealt with his fair share of adversity.
The lyrics are an insight into the life of people who have to hustle to make it in the streets. The hustlers struggle to build a life by their own rules and to avoid being caught by the police. The lyrics suggest that the hustle is all about the money, and it doesn't matter how they get it. It showcases the dangers and risks involved in being a part of the criminal world.

It's you, it's always you
If I'm ever gonna fall in love
I know it's gon' be you
It's you, it's always you
Met a lot of people, but nobody feels like you
So, please don't break my heart
Don't tear me apart
I know how it starts
Trust me, I've been broken before
Don't break me again
I am delicate
Please, don't break my heart
Trust me, I've been broken before
I've been broken, yeah
I know how it feels
To be open
And then find out your love isn't real
I'm still hurting, yeah
I'm hurting inside
I'm so scared to fall in love, but if it's you, then I'll try
It's you, it's always you
If I'm ever gonna fall in love
I know it's gon' be you
It's you, it's always you
Met a lot of people, but nobody feels like you
So, please don't break my heart
Don't tear me apart
I know how it starts
Trust me, I've been broken before
Don't break me again
I am delicate
Please, don't break my heart
Trust me, I've been broken before
I know I'm not the best at choosing lovers
We both know my past speaks for itself (for itself)
If you don't think that we're right for each other (for each other)
Then please don't let history repeat itself
'Cause I want you, I want you
There's nothing else I want
'Cause I want you, I want you
And you're the only thing I want
It's you, it's always you
If I'm ever gonna fall in love
I know it's gon' be you
It's you, it's always you
Met a lot of people
But nobody feels like you
So, please don't break my heart
Don't tear me apart
I know how it starts
Trust me, I've been broken before
Don't break me again
I am delicate
Please, don't break my heart
Trust me, I've been broken before
